Happy to help. First of all, it's not just 8 teams, it's a total of 12 teams that make the playoffs, 6 from each conference. Each conference(American and National) has 4 divisions(North, South, East and West). The Winner of each division gets in to the playoffs automatically as well as home field advantage(they play at home). Additionally, 2 more teams make it as wild cards.
THis upcoming weekend is called WIld Card weekend. THe Two Wild Card teams(from each conference) play the division winners with the third and fourth best records. The other two division winners(best and second best record-wise) get a "bye", meaning they advance to the next round automatically. From then, it's basically a straight up semifinal system... all the way to the Super Bowl.
Hope it wasn't too complicated. Let me know if you have any more questions.

no idea who that guy is but you're not doing yourself any favors if you listen to an australian "analize" the game of football, american football that is.
nfl.com is your best bet. Their analysts are former coaches, former players(hall of famers) and great anchors. And they're all quite entertaining.
Anyways... not sure if their video content is viewable worldwide but i'd give it a try.
Another great source (if you prefer to read)is ProFootballTalk.com which is part of SI.com(Sports Illustrated)

true... ALthough PIT was missing their starting safety and their starting tail back and like 3 other starters. Big Ben just wasn't himself today(still hurt). Great for Denver fans, not that it matters all that much, since they'll be running into Brady and company next week. I'll be rooting for another "upset" next week when the Giants visit Green Bay. Last time these two teams met it was also @ Lambeau Field and we know how that turned out. Rooting for Patriots/Giants Super Bowl 2.0 xD

Yeah Pittsburgh was pretty banged up. I doubt Denver wins if Ben's not so hobbled on that ankle. I thought the Steelers were still going to win, especially after Denver kinda got f'ed on that lateral call. Momentum shifted quite a bit there.
Giants are playing really well, but I hope the Packers steamroll them. I'd rather see Brady vs. Rodgers. It's a more even matchup cuz both quarterbacks are on fire and the teams play no defense. Would be an entertaining Super Bowl.

idk.... ELi's play has been pretty stellar all season long. And that D-line !! Take it from a Cowboys fan. I hate the Giants(obviously) but i can't deny that team is running on all cylinders at the moment. Very reminiscent of 2007/2008. Rodgers has been great as well though, it'll be the game of the week for sure.

I haven't been this happy to be a Broncos fan since Elway won his second super bowl. Yesterday was nuts!

Enjoy it while you can Senor Francis. I think Mr. Brady is going to have something to say this weekend, but stranger things have happened that's for sure.

Happy to say I went 4-0 with my picks. I collected a good sum of money on bets this weekend. I've 49er's over the Saints, Patriots over the Broncos, Giants over the Packers, and The Texans over the Ravens.

I know Alex Smith has been pretty good this year but come on... it's still Alex Smith, 1st overall pick bust, he's been terrible his whole career. And he'll be facing Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and the rest of that gang. NO/SF will be a good game imo, so will NY/GB.

Well Alex Smith won't be facing Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, unless San Fran has switched leagues all of a sudden. But he's had a good season this year. I love Drew Brees, he won my fantasy championship for me, but I still believe that you need defense to win. The game is at San Fran, 49ers have a really good defense, and I think San Fran will use Frank Gore to turn the game into a time of possession battle and limit the Saints ability to score. I think 49ers pull off the upset at home. Barely winning 31-28. And I've got the Texans because I just can't trust Baltimore's offense. There are days where Flacco looks great and then there are days where he looks lost. I can't trust that offense, so I'll with the Texans by default.

obviously it's NO/SF as i picked the Saints to win, don't know why i got off track there. Must be because Alex Smith's career has sucked that bad But yeah... good point about New Orleans defense. Although, Greg Williams is a motherfucking genius so you never know what type of packages and and desguise blitzes he may throw at Mr #1 overal draft pick.(see? i am doing it again) lol He did manage to shut down Manning, Warner and Favre in consecutive playoff games just a couple of years ago, with what's basically the same group of players.

So where's everyone watching the superbowl this year?
I'll probably go to the Rugby club in Canberra (last year I was booted out of the club I haunt over in another major shopping district, because I had a Panthers cap in my hand. They were all Green bay idiots)

I'm so happy for Alex Smith. There has probably been no bigger supporter and defender of Alex Smith than me. And he came through with a Pro Bowl season, a 13-3 record, a playoff win, and a trip to the NFC title game. I can't wait to see him grow in Hardbaugh's system and finally have the same offensive coordinator and head coach for more than one season.
He's officially not a bust.

What a game that was. Harbaugh is incredible, I was ready to suit up for him by the end!
