128 year old club. looks like they may play final game on saturday...
This is why clueless bussinessmen are killing the game. This club played at a modest little ground called Feethams. it was the average lower league ground, 3 terraces and a modern perfectly conditioned seated main stand. it was righ in the town centre and easy to access. Darlo averaged crowds in the 2000/3000 range.
Then a man called George Reynolds bought the club and had a 25,000 all seater build for the club. 11 months later he dropped them in administration and fucked off. for 8 years now the club has averaged attendances of 2200 in a 25k stadium. he has essentially killed the club.
the club have now announced no home games can be played as only 5 non-playing staff remain. but if no buyer comes by 17th Jan it will be wound up.
This will not be the first historic club to die, many others will soon pay the price of bad managment. football as a whole is dying
