Surprisingly, that list is pretty ok to me. Sure there's some songs on there I wouldn't listen to, but there's a lot more songs on there that I like then what I usually like off a Q mag list Great to see Beady Eye making some end of year lists

Interesting - so they think THE MORNING SON is better than anything on Noel's album?

It is without doubt a fantastic tune, far and away Liam's finest moment as a songwriter. A shame that it wasn't an Oasis tune as it would of undoubtedly got more attention.

This song to me is much better live than on CD. I thought it was okay when I heard it on the album, but it blew me away live. I still can't get it out of my head. Maybe the way the sound echoes, or the way Liam's voice just projects across the crowd. Don't know exactly what it is, but the energy of it is phenomenal.

The person who definitely should not be surprised by this selection is Noel. At various stages between 2002-08 he commented very positively on Liam's songwriting abilities. Here are a few quotes
"Liam’s really good. Y’know the thing about Liam is, you’ve not even heard the half of it. If he could even be bothered to finish some of the songs he started. Honestly, they’re amazing."
"In five years' time without a doubt he'll be the best songwriter in the country." Better than him (Noel)? "Oh yeah, easily."
"What's really changed is that I'm no longer the main songwriter. I'm one of the songwriters and the best songwriter may well be Liam. His three songs are absolutely mega. I mean, really. You wait until you hear them, people are going to be very, very surprised at how good he is."
There is also a songwriting quote that has long been intriguing me, from Noel in 2001: "With Liam I taught him how to write songs anyway, so he's gonna write in my style." How do you feel about this? Did Noel really teach him?

[/i] How do you feel about this? Did Noel really teach him?[/quote] Noel didn't sat with Liam and teach him how to write songs or play guitar. Liam has learned it by observing his brother all those years. We all know Gem played also a very important part to help Liam developping his songs, since he doesn't play instruments. Noel has helped Liam as an arranger too, look at the songbird demo, and what it became, so simple, so great, It's because of Noel. But maybe it became a flaw after , I've always though Liam's song weren't produced enough, most of the time, it's just an accoutic guitar (DBTT being the best example). Sometimes it's great, sometimes, a little over the top production like Noel's song can be nice.

I can't remember which interview it was, but there is one where he speaks about him and Gem trying to keep Liam from using too many cliches in his writing.

liam is such a fanatical beatles-fan, i guess he learned everything from them. the morning son is a well written song, but i just don't like the vibe of it.
liam is a great songwriter. he should concentrate more on writing songs like that than on 2 min nonsens like for anyone, ain't got nothing or two of a kind

I think its great Noel isn't there. That after all is why BDI exist. It would sound like another Oasis album otherwise.

It would sound like another Oasis album otherwise. everything sounds to clean. they said that DGSS is a rocknroll album, but i miss the rough sound on it. listen to two of a kind, a song thats quite forgettable. and then listen to "i believe in all" from oasis. it has the same kind of legs but it's way better because of noels influence i guess

When they put that Lennnon clip in. Noel thought it was a bad idea.

They should have either turned it up or not bothered. It ended up sounding like someone mumbling in the background.
Where are your details GD, i've bought a Christmas card ffs.
