People are ridiculous. Some guy named Hansl? posted rubbish on the Beady Eye official page in the news section. What an idiot. And apparently they play Three Ring Circus early in the set now? Yes, they played Four Letter Word, Beatles & Stones, Millionaire, Three Ring Circus and Two of a Kind.

Great to read, Elias.
Love this quote:
"Ultimately, Noel will always have the importance of being an idol, but Oasis was always Liam and Noel, and will always be Liam and Noel"

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I could be) but did Noel ever pull out of a gig and the reason was NOT Liam-related?
I can only recall it happening 3 times in 15 years.
Not justifying, just asking.
And anyone who thinks that leaving a show/tour because you're not "getting on with your brother" is a bad reason CLEARLY has no experience with a sibling who you simply cannot be around...for whatever reason.
It's fucking impossible, trust me.

Especially if Liam was telling Noel he could tell the difference between a 128 kbps mp3 and a 320 kbps mp3 amirite

I think your definition of professionalism is a skewed. Quitting a job you can no longer bear does not signify a lack of professionalism. Leaving ahuge band does not qualify as being unprofessional
Leaving tour because you hate your brother, ducking an unplugged gig because you don't really want to do it, leaving 1000s of ticket holders on the hook because you want to set up house with your new wife. Yep, those qualify.
I don't think either Noel or Liam have any stones to throw on this account. Both have had their share of unprofessional moments.

Well yeah exactly, but in fairness people on this forum to tend to point to Liam more often. I think sacking gigs off because you had a row with brother is pretty poor tbh. I work in a family business and unfortunately you just have to get on with it.

I think the reason that people tend to point more @ Liam is because he has more variety in the unprofessional category. Performing too drunk to function, skipping concerts to go house hunting, spitting on crowds, punching photographers and various others, not soudchecking, ditching the unplugged gig d/t a "sore throat" and then yelling from the balcony, changing words to tunes to insult fellow bandmates or the crowd, getting deported, etc. Noel on the other hand seems to have one major flaw in his professionalism...and that is his ability to tolerate Liam past a certain limit. Only once was the walkout based on purely personal reasons that we know of and that was 2000 when Liam insinuated that Anais was illegitimate...and I don't actually think of that as a "family issue." Tomlivesforever...if you have a family member that treated the business as their private playground while you were hard at work...chances are there would be more conflict. It's not hard to see why people think that Liam is more unprofessional in general. The fact that anyone could make the case that Noel AS unprofessional id laughable. On a case per case basis sure...but generally?

When he broke his ribs and i'm sure he did after the car crash, i'm not 100% on this but I think the band walked off stage a few times in the early days when they had something chucked at them.

On a case per case basis sure...but generally? Liam has been unprofessional on occasion but to be fair to him over the last 18 years or so he has fufilled the vast majority of his commitments. Much more so than a host of other bands. GD I don't fault you as I didn't go into detail of my situation but I can assure you working 335 odd days a year, 8 hours a day in the same room as them is not ideal. I've heard much worse than the annais comment, you just get on with it if there's a job to be finished. I'd much rather go on tour in a massive rock n roll band with Liam Gallagher tbh.

I didn't realize that we were discussing Liam in relation to everyone else in rock music. I just noticed a trend of, "tbf Noel is just as unprofessional...he missed gigs for non-life-or-death reasons so no one should think less of Liam than they do of Noel" Noel has a bad habit of throwing his toys out of the pram when pushed too far. But Liam has a reputation for being unprofessional even without provocation. Sure he has smartened up substantially, particularly in BDI. But as I have said before, takes longer the rehabilitate a reputation than ruin it. And Liam put forward enough unprofessionalism in the past that he earned his reputation in spades. To deny that is foolish. And you are not Noel and your brother is not Liam

The most unprofessional thing Noel did was call Liam out in every other interview from about 96 through to the end of Oasis

Oh come on.
Unprofessional is saying that your singer is a great singer and songwriter but a bit of a knob personally? Everyone agrees, even Gem, that Liam did things specifically to piss Noel off....and that is based off behaviour AFTER the 90's. Of course Noel thought he was a nob.
I didn't realize professionalism = kissing Liam's ass.

Oh no, not at all. A lot of what Noel has said about Liam over the years has seemed valid or fair.
But making other people in your band sound bad is unprofessional, IMO. Liam has brought a lot on himself over the years but we heard Noel's side of the story so much more than Liam's that its made Liam look worse than he is sometimes.

Liam was his own worst enemy to his reputation.
Noel has more respect professionally, because generally he is more professional. He hasn't been an angel...but in comparison to Liam he might as well be.
People make it sound like Noel did nothing but slag off Liam. He also talked him up a shitload. I've never heard him refer to him as anything less than a world-class top tier frontman and never even whisper a criticism of Liam wavering vocals. If Noel had wanted to be truly cruel and cutthroat...he had a decade to slag off Liam.
Heck...he's still talking him up as a singer and frontman while Liam is busy insulting Noel's music and songwriting.

Yeah, I don't really disagree with a lot of that. Noel is more 'professional' than Liam. However, Noel mentioned in the press conference that Liam was ranting at him as if he 'controlled the press'. And I don't think it's hard to see why Liam felt/feels like that. Because he would have digs at Liam in interviews. Some seemed playful, others perhaps not. You're right, he'd also talk him up, and he probably felt he had to balance it out with some sort of criticism or whatever, either to keep Liam's feet on the ground or just because Noel didn't want to give him too much praise. But really, some of the shit I heard him say in interviews over the years, just went a bit too far. I dunno, I do personally believe that we heard Noel's story so much more than Liam's for 15 years. It was only when Liam started tweeting through the DOYS tour that he started to bite back. And then they split, six months later. Coincidence? I think Liam acted in a manner that he wouldn't have done if he wasn't in a band with his brother. But I think Noel said things he wouldn't have said if the singer wasn't his brother. It works both ways. And with Liam, I take what I get. Because the Sunday night in 1996 that I sat up listening to Knebworth night 2 on the radio will live with me forever, fuck knows how it must be for the people who were old and lucky enough to be there. And Liam was creamed, big time, as well all know, but that was part of what made it so special. Oasis didn't become the best and biggest band in the world by being professional, and if Liam wasn't the way he is then the chances are this forum and all the others like it wouldn't exist. Of course, he went too far with the Unplugged/US Tour in 96, but the turning up for gigs drunk and all that was the fucking deal with Oasis and I would hope that if he had his time again he would do exactly the same in that regard. And anyway, if getting drunk before gigs makes Liam unprofessional, then what about the state Noel was in to write and record Be Here Now (I kid, I kid)

You can admire Liam for preforming drunk if you want. I don't think that is one of the things that made them amazing. I don't like listening to the 2nd night at Wembley 2000 either though.
But really...Liam's actions are things that are pulled out when people criticize Liam's professionalism. So all this talk about us having heard Noel's story is a bit moot.
You can't think that it's great if you want...but unfortunately Liam's reaping the fruits of his labors of a half decade at the top behaving like that. He built his own reputation on that premise. Unfortunately it's coming back to bite him in the ass. He may be frustrated that he is being viewed as unprofessional but he isn't actually viewed as unprofessional primarily because of Noel's stories but instead because of his actions.
Even forgetting the V-fest allegations. Liam most famous sore throat was MTV unplugged...and that sure didn't seem like laryngitis at all. Of course people will always roll their eyes at a claim of sore throat. Liam has already cried wolf at least once on film.

Yeah the second night at Wembley is a shocking vocal, I'll give you that. I remember when I split with my missus going into work in a couple of unfit states, but 100,000 people hadn't paid to watch me work. That being said, we shouldn't base our perceptions of gigs like that on the bootleg. I watched it on Sky One live on the night (or close to live) and even as an ardent teenage Liam fan(boy) I was a bit uuummm at his vocal. Yet I spoke to a mate the next day and he and everyone who went with him LOVED it.
Of course, I've heard people on here saying they loved it because of the atmosphere and in spite of Liam, but I don't think many people went back and thought 'bloody hell Liam was wasted, I want my money back'
So yeah I do think you take the rough with the smooth because Liam got hammered before coming on stage plenty of times and it often resulted in a great show, Fairfax and Knebworth in 96, the whole bloody Be Here Now tour etc.
All that being said, you're right that this it is irrelevant to compare him with Noel and I do agree in general. Liam made his bed plenty for himself but I think you are underestimating how much influence Noel had on Liam's public perception over the years. Once Oasis's popularity went into decline and SOTSOG came out, people would be like 'you still love Oasis...Liam's a knobhead...I saw Noel on (random TV show) and he said Liam blablabla' and that went on for the rest of their time, and really with the press conference it is still happening
Still, I don't think we'll ever completely see eye to eye on this but it"s been fun discussing it

I don't like listening to the 2nd night at Wembley 2000 either though. If you're gonna do Wembley last time you might as well do it pissed out or yer arse, yeah! ;D (One of my favourite bootlegs tbf!)
