i get the feeling he is telling the truth. if this was all bullshit he would have prob just made some lyrics up to the songs when you asked him.

I mentioned that specifically as I thought I hadn't seen it in print before, therefore thought it was brand new information.

Also, despite what some of you may think, it's not that easy to cherry-pick lyrics from an album you've only heard once.
It's not as if I was sat next to the speakers, listening intently with a pen and pad. I probably would have been if it was my choice, but you'd look crazy.
These events don't work like that. It's more of a social thing to be honest. You listen to the album while talking to colleagues and meeting new people, then you discuss the album afterwards and share opinions.
The lyrics that I remember are the ones from the songs we've all heard (EOTR/RM/STC) - most likely because I've heard them lots and lots.
The "batteries" line rings a bell now because I remember how high pitched Noel's voice goes when he says that word. If my memory serves me correctly, that's the last line of a verse before the chorus.
SOTWB actually refers to being on a beach, there are literal descriptions of being surrounded by trees and sea etc.
I know this isn't anything groundbreaking, but it's just what I can remember at the moment (from that song).
The chorus to Dream On is super catchy, a definite live sing along.

It's not too far from IIHAG actually. I prefer BA to IIHAG.

If it's better than if i had a gun then it must be great!

Is it true that Dream On has the word "songbird" in the lyrics? Don't you remember it?

Which song has the biggest guitar solo?

Is it true that Dream On has the word "songbird" in the lyrics? Don't you remember it? Songbird? Erm, don't remember that being in the lyrics to Dream On actually, no. From memory, I'd say the longest guitar solo is in Stop the Clocks. That song develops really well, it is quite mellow and builds and builds then ends the album with a bang. This might be a good point for a caveat: If anyone here is expecting songs with big guitar solos in, or songs like "Full On", you're going to be disappointed. Think more "Little by Little" and "Talk Tonight". There are no Step Out's on this album.

How prominent are the strings / choir in the mix on EOTR? are there big guitars and drums on it? and if so do they drown out the choir and strings at any point?

how would you rate the songs out of 10? which was your favourite and how is the instrumentation on EOTR? I'm sort of hesitant to give songs a mark out of ten - don't really like marking stuff like that, so please see this for what it is. When I say 9/10 I don't mean it's better than DLBIA or anything, it's just what feels right from what I can remember of the song. 10/10 is not PERFECT it just means I'm madly in love with it from a first impression. For example, I think Definitely Maybe is a 10/10 album, and DLBIA is a 10/10 song but they're not perfect. Everybody's on the Run 10/10 Dream On 8/10 If I Had a Gun... 8/10 The Death of You and Me 7/10 (I Wanna Live in a Dream in My) Record Machine 8/10 AKA... What a Life! 7/10 Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks* 10/10 AKA... Broken Arrow 9/10 (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach 8/10 Stop the Clocks 7/10 *Potentially in Noel's Top 10 songs of all time for me, but refuse to make that a definite decision from only one listen.

But the drumming is really really great, and the choir is brilliant, it's not drowned out at all. Think Electric Proms. Great stuff. If anything the choir gets even bigger for the chorus. I got goosebumps after listening to this song, it lit a fire inside - without sounding too over the top. It makes TDOYAM sound like a below average song. Honestly.

Dimitri, in your opinion, has Noel selected the wrong singles??? I'm not sure. For example EOTR, it's stunningly brilliant. But I'll be disappointed if it was released as a single, if you know what I mean. Same as SBAJF, I like the fact they're on the album and not out as singles (in the same way I like the fact Slide Away isn't a single). So it depends on what you mean by "wrong". Do I think he could have released Dream On as his debut instead of TDOYAM? I think he could and shoud have. It's a better song. I have a feeling that because Dream On isn't too far away from the Oasis sound (LDSMD maybe), it may have been decided against. TDOYAM has the brass section, which sort of says "It's me... NG, same good music, but with a little twist". Flares a bit of interest. When you hear the chorus to DO, you'll know what I mean. You know when you hear She's Electric? It's like the catchiest song ever, you can't help singing a long to it. That's how catchy it is. So, in my opinion, this should be the singles: 1. Dream On 2. IIHAG 3. AKA...WAL! 4. RM

Thanks for the reply, i have been wanting to know that for ages, The Turning has a choir but Sardy put it too low in the mix, sounds like he nailed it this time, EOTR is the song im most looking forward to thanks for trying to reply to everybody elses questions too!

It's great to see your ratings cause you think TDOYAM and AKA WAL are the worst songs on the album, and as i'm not the biggest fan of them either, it's good to know that the others are probably better ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Just one more questions to put things into perspective: Are you one of the obvious Noel fans? Not that it's a bad thing or anything, just that the ratings might differ a bit from the standard Oasis fan who also likes a bit of rock 'n' roll, like me. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/A9bL_RjIN9bOhnrQxKjN.gif)

I am an obvious Noel fan to be honest.
I've been waiting for this album for ages, ever since first hearing all the amazing Noel sung b-sides (TM/TT etc).
I love Liam, and the rockier tunes, but this is album is what I wanted it to be, and more.
This album is not Rock n Roll, though.

Ok some more questions (sorry if they seem similar to others, or they're annoying, just so curious). First of all, which songs would he be more prone to playing for an acoustic set, out of the ones we don't know? Also, i know EOTR is massive, powerful, but is there an anthem like song in the vein of Don't look back in anger? I hear dream on is catchy, but is there one with a chorus that you will belt out a la "Soooooooo sally can wait..."? Cheers mate !
