Hi all
Feel a bit guilty coming here for help when I havent been on for ages but needs must so here goes........................
Couple weeks ago decided to clean up disks, delete redundant stuff-thought i was careful as to what i deleted, etc
Must have got something wrong because i then lost all details relating to my wireless connection.
I use a netgear wireless adapter to connect pc to router. The pc kept saying "usb device not working properly" when i plugged in the adapter (to any of 8 ports)-so i bought new belkin adapter
Same result.
BUT same with anything eg new printer hardwire, phone, etc
Can anybody please help?
Martin

hate everything that's remotely domestic ;D Cooking chilli con carne whilst drinking beer and watching football is domestic Eva, thanks for the tips-didnt work but led me to realise I needed to run the driver and utilities disk which came with the pc-that showed I was missing several. Unfortunately STILL have same problem but.........one of the drivers wont install: it refers me to the logfile which simply says:-"following drivers installed.....".....................then blank The rogue driver is AMD Semperon Processor. The other issue is that when I try to uninstall my wireless network adapter drivers so I can reinstall them, Widows says "removed...reboot to complete"-and then they are still there. And that seems to stop them installing again. My simple comp brain says the processor driver is the key....but how to cure? I'm gonna go to Fujitsu-Siemens site, d/l it from there to laptop, save to cd then try to instal again Any more ideas? Martin

OK I have d/ld the sempron drivers from fujitsu-siemens but before i do that.........
Have previous working network adapter (netgear wn111 v2) but no drivers
Got drivers from netgear, copied to cd. Wont instal as there is no autorun file there. Anyone know what I type in command line on XP to make data cd run?

Sod it, went ahead and installed sempron processor drivers.
Windows says it needs to run chkdsk, which its been doing for awhile so hoping all ok
