when you have shit like Justin Bieber and The Jonas Brothers on your cover, you've lost all credibility imo.

Why did you make a new account purely to raise your karma? Seems a bit....pointless?

Yeah, after they were blacklisted by Rolling Stone nobody else in the US would touch them. I wish they'd at least been polite for that cover article, it could have made a world of difference. They could have taken over America, too. And if anyone doubts that RS blacklisted them, I can scan that article. I have never read another music article in which the journalist had such obvious loathing for the band in question, it is awful. They are outright insulted. The title is "Ruling Asses", if that gives you any idea of what it's like. I stopped buying RS after they did away with the large format. The extra-large cover images were the only thing I liked about it, and even then they rarely featured anyone worthwhile on the cover. It is a pale imitation of a music magazine. Could you scan it, please? I'm interested in this article. It will be the first time I've read Rolling Stone for maybe five or six years. Here you go. Read it and feel the hate! Oasis's bad-boy attitudes definitely didn't translate across the pond at all, at least to this writer. You'll see how he picked the most potentially offensive, idiotic remark of Liam's to plaster large across the beginning of the article, among other spiteful jabs (that first paragraph - ouch!). ^Thought the charts were relevant too, since Oasis are in almost all of them. They even have the #1 spot in the RS Readers' Top 20, much to the displeasure of the writers of the mag, I'm sure.

Thanks for that, k+! That's a horrible lead quote, I can't believe they actually published that.

you disagree with their reviews, that's fine. (that was a blurb, not a review, by the way.) however, to say they have a vendetta against anything oasis is ridiculous. You're right, that's Pitchfork. ;D But yeah, Pitchfork is what's a vendetta. Rolling Stone has at least given some props to Oasis. They do not have a vendetta. They've given good reviews to Noel's solo set from a few years back and they post news of his activities. "Live Forever" was listed as one of pitchfork's top 500 songs. They've said it clearly a few times, they don't like Oasis post 1996. That's a reasonable attitude to have.

I think RS started to lose all credibility when they had the Spice Girls on the cover summer of '97

Just like MTV, with each passing year, less and less music is getting featured. It is now more pop culture oriented with movies, tv shows and politics taking the spotlight often.
Rolling Stone's last good moment was when Be Here Now won readers choice for Album of the Year.

unless they practically suck noel's dick with a glowing review of every table scrap he releases, rolling stone has a vendetta against oasis. (that's at least what it sounds like some of you are saying.)
rolling stone is just one of many, many music magazines. if you don't like what they have to say, then don't read 'em. simple as that. it's not like what rolling stone says is the law of the land, you know.

there's a slightly different review in the very latest issue of RS. dunno who's on the cover, some shitty, 'flavor of the month' band.
if i go to the store later i'll rip out the page or see if a library has it and then post it, complete condescending bullshit of course with a slight compliment.
aloha!
