The time has finally arrived for the track of all tracks-- Stop the Clocks to be released. Excellent news, indeed! I'm sure many of you are as happy and excited as I am. And this definitely needed its own thread after the agonizing long wait.
So what do you think? One thing I like is the fact that STC is closing the album as the final track. Seems like a perfect place for it. Now... will the song end with the guitar solo, or will it be moved to elsewhere in the song? Who knows. Maybe Jamie.

I hope he got rid of the toe cringing sound, sound, sound, sound, sound, sound, sound, sound..... Haha I agree that definitely didn't work very well. That's the only part of the entire song that I don't like. Oh yeah, and let's hope he left in the STC lyrics at the end of Record Machine. That was clever.

It can go two ways. It can be anther Masterplan-esque song or it will be overblown psychedelic stuff.

Maybe the one where I've been up for 2days with Kate Nash's Brit Award? What would u like me to write? "To my biggest fan... Love, peace n quiet..." On a more positive note I'm interested in seeing what he's done with Record Machine n Stop The Clocks, I'm glad they finally got their outing. I must admit I didn't see 2albums coming, though with the drastically different material from the demos i couldn't really ever see how they would merge together on 1 record. I think this first one is to please the management, to sell tickets, a more commercially viable album, to put bums on seats, cos from what I got that he was extremely passionate about making the out there one. But I guess we get the best of both worlds Roll on next week

I agree with Cast, the demo is pretty stale but it has got a lot of promise (like Record Machine) - the production might make or break the tune. The cringing 'sound, sound, sound,' does sound naff but that's because it's only a demo. On the record, if it goes all distorted and echoey on that bit it will sound really cool.
I really like the tune - it's very hypnotic. I'm guessing people who aren't keen on STC and RM will actually be blown away by the final product.

The only thing I like about the demo is the drums at the end and they're probably rerecorded.

Haha, I think your passion and excitement for this song is great. Don't listen to the other people who keep getting annoyed. Saying that, I hope he's transformed the song a lot from the demo. I hope he keeps the capo on the second fret - if he's decided to keep the same chords. And I hope he dresses the songs up with strings and wine glasses, and "electric kettles" haha. The lyrics are good.
As long as he shies away from a strict acoustic version of this song, I think it can be great. But, I'm not sure if I agree with your excitement over its placement as the final track. But, I'm sure Noel had good reason, so I'll trust him.

Got a feeling its gonna have a more 'Indian' sound to it this time around. The DBTT demo of it was ok but pretty bland, just acoustic near enough all the way through then the random full-band outro.
Really think this time its gonna be a lot more layered, possibly with sitar, percussion n other Indian-eque instruments n sounds, possibly have the drums n stuff kick in earlier into it as well.
Can imagine it sounding more like Who Feels Love this time around...
