I think that the jury did think that she was guilty.
Because just because the verdict was "not guilty", doesn't mean that the jury saw her as "innocent". For there to be a guilty verdict, she must be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution didn't know how her daughter died, where she died, or if she was even murdered. So it was pretty hard for the prosecution to prove her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
I think she was guilty of something. Whether it was murder, I don't know. I don't think any of us will ever know. I do know that she's a bad mother, and that she's callous, and irresponsible. But I don't know if she was a killer. In the end, I wouldn't have found her guilty if I were on the jury. But I wouldn't have seen her as innocent either.
This trial kind of reminds me of the Albert Camus book, The Stranger. If no one has ever read it, then I suggest you should. It's about this guy whose mother dies and he shows no remorse, and he goes out and parties after her funeral and stuff. But later on he gets accused of a murder, and in the trial, instead of the prosecution focusing on the evidence in the case, the prosecution brings up all the ways that defendant is a bad person; including him saying that the defendant showed no remorse when his mother died.
But yeah, it's a good book and it really relates to this subject. Like I said, I believe that she is guilty, but I wouldn't have convicted her either.

Yeah, I read The Stranger in 10th grade. Good book from what I remember.
And I know how the law works, and what you say is correct. However, circumstantial evidence is still evidence. We're living in a society dominated by CSI and Law and Order that demand DNA and video evidence. Well, we don't have either really in this case.
All the evidence shows Casey is responsible here. Also, what kind of mother doesn't look for her child until after 30 days the child has been missing for? Irresponsible? Yes, but it's even more than that. And all her web of lies? The chloroform? The duct tape? The blanket? The hair? The car smelling?
All these pieces link together. There's no doubt she just got away with murder.
It's good we killed bin Laden, otherwise he would have been acquitted too (tongue in cheek a bit here, of course. But you get the point)

And yet, none of those things equal the act of murder. They equal the act of someone who maybe thinking of committing murder and having a messy car, but they don't equal murder. I think they insinuate that a type of murder might have happened, but they don't prove it. And without actual proof, then it is circumstantial, and does lead to reasonable doubt. The fact that it wasn't pronounced as murder by the medical examiner really hurt the prosecution's case. There were just too many leaps for the jury to make. First the leap that she was murdered, then the leap that Casey might have done it, and the trying to figure out how she did it (which was never explained by the prosecution either). Like I said, I believe that she was guilty. As I believe that she probably got away with murder. But I also understand why she wasn't convicted. What I do wish was that the verdict come back as a hung jury, rather than innocent where we have double jeopardy. Now, there can't be a re-trial.

I'm not blaming the jury per se, but it's such a shame that murders can exploit our legal system. Essentially, it's all about being wealthy enough to afford a good attorney, isn't it? Still, though, she should have been at least charged with manslaughter for her 30 days of being AWOL and not reporting her daughter as missing..... I do agree, though. A hung jury would have been a better outcome.

Yeah, the only thing that I do blame the jury in is coming back with a not guilty. I wish it had been hung jury, so that there could have been a re-trial. New evidence could have been found, more witnesses could have came forward. Now though, it won't matter.

It's not about what we think. There was reasonable doubt. There's a reason we have a legal system.

It was the right verdict for the evidence but it leaves a foul taste in everyone's mouth because it is definitely not what she deserves.
All I hope is that every time she closes her eyes to blink or sleep she see and feels the full horror of her daughters last time on earth.
Now back to the cherry cola thread to cool my rage!

She should have gotten busted on the abuse charge at least. The prosecution never should have gone for murder 1 without some dna or fingerprint evidence. At least the entire world hates her tho. She'll be harassed everywhere she goes and hopefully at least a few people spit on her cuz if she didn't kill her daughter, she at least had a hand in it and that's more than enough to deserve a lifetime of hate from everyone you come across.
I just hope she isn't able to cash in. I hope no one is sick enough to offer her money for interviews etc. She needs to get pissed on. The bitch needs a golden shower like nobody's business.

Should have had the swim star who was found guilty of murdering her baby at the trial. If she was, why isn't Casey?

WTSP 10 News Tampa Bay reports the Casey Anthony verdict: Not guilty. Anthony was charged of having murdered her two-year-old child Caylee Anthony in 2008 through duct tape suffocation. The ruling capped 35 days of testimony and arguments presented to the Anthony court.

I think the entire family knows what happened. And that's a fucked up family too, btw. yeah. i didn't even really pay attention to the trial or know much about it until was unavoidable. she's accusing her father and brother of molesting her, duct taping their dead pets. what fuck ups. she probably would've been better off being found guilty and going to prison. she'll never be able to get a real job. her family, if they have any sense won't have anything to do with her. she's fucked, and rightfully so.
