Very interesting interview with Liam - the others barely get a look in - basically all about the split and what Noel said afterwards about being let down by the others in the band and his management. Apparently they all (i.e. Gem and the management etc.) went to one of Noel's kids' birthday parties the following weekend despite his statement! Also they all disagree that Liam was the outsider in the group and travelling separately - they say Noel was doing that. Even flying separately! I think Noel has a lot of explaining to do - it'll be interesting to see what he says when he talks.
Interestingly suggests that Liam wrote The Roller(?), Wigwam, Bring The Light, For Anyone, Beatles And Stones and The Morning Son.
Double page review of the album - 4 stars out of 5 - says The Beat Goes On is the best thing on the album. Seems like the usual Q over the top review because they're on the cover.

it's a complete conspiracy. Seriously, there always was something weird about that break up. After more then 1 year touring, and only 2 gigs left till you can take a year off, you don't split a band... I always thought his statement that "the band and management let him down" was weird. Certainly when you're playing a solo gig with an ex oasis member a half year later. Obviously Noel was tired of Oasis and wanted to do his own thing. But why did he needed to blow the whole thing up? Was Liam forbidding him to go solo? Or was he thinking they would both be more successful if they split Oasis up?

Probably. Btw I don't actually think that there's a conspiracy or something I just find it really weird that after all those years of tolerating each other, he couldn't wait 1 (!!) week for the tour to end... Also, during the DBTT era they Seemed to be getting along pretty well (proof: LDSMD docu and STC interviews)

In Mojo Gem says he played with Noel at TCT because it was pre-booked before they split up. As Liam says in Q why didn't Noel 'just f**kin' say you wanna leave the band, you want time out, you wanna bring up your kids... that's fuckin' cool. But don't go lying about it and inventing stories.' Really can't wait to hear Noel's side of it!

i don't really think there was much thought involved in breaking up the band. they fought, broke up and Gem, Andy and the other band members are caught in the middle. Definitely no thought involved imo. Liam said they didn't speak since a fall out at the airport: ( “I think it might have been about some support band he wanted to play with us and he didn't ask my permission. So we had a f**king ding-dong in the airport and I think he started crying then — that was it — doesn't travel with me any more.”) It must have been a pretty bad fall out if Noel started crying! Knowing Liam he will have said his oppinion and not in the most polite way! I think in the end Liam was just tired about Noel being a loner, not having fun anymore, putting the whole band down, deciding everything on his own and above that Noel kept talking about a 5 year hiatus and a solo album. It was pretty obvious the band could not go on like that. Noel and the rest of the band were just not on the same level anymore at the end. They just fell out. Fought. Smashed each others guitars. Noel couldn't handle it, left and made his statement we all read in this 'Tales in the middle of Nowhere' blaming Liam for the whole thing, which I still think wasn't fare.

I dont think we'll ever know what truely happened. Noel will have his story and Liam, Gem, Andy, and Chris will have their's and in the end it will probably be in the middle.
I think there is some truth in the statement that Noel made and I think there is some truth in what Liam and co. are saying.
I think Gem and Noel are still friends. I think there was a concert a while back that both went to as fans. If someone could find the thread that would help. They were seen together right after the break up.
I think it was Andy and Liam that Noel really fell out with. I say this because it seems like only a Gem went to that party that Q talks about and not Andy and Liam.
Like I said, I think in the end its in the middle and it has something to do with both parties. We will probably never truelu know what happened that night and what happened leading up to that break up. Because I think in the end, when Noel was talking about the band not supporting him, I think he was talking about an accumalation of a few events during the tour and recording.

^ tbf...how does that differ from Liam's assertions that the whole thing was all Noel's doing? I don't think relationships get as bad as Noel and Liam's @ the end because of 1 person.
Seems to me the whole thing took a year to hit the fan and I am sure their were dozens of significant interactions. I think it was way more complicated than we will ever begin to figure out.
That night in Paris seems more like the straw that broke the camels back than a significant event.

Where did you read that I was blaming 1 person?
I said both version are probably somewhere in the middle. That it seems like Noel fell out with Andy and Liam, but not Gem. Dont know where you're getting it from, that I'm blaming 1 person

Also they all disagree that Liam was the outsider in the group and travelling separately - they say Noel was doing that. Even flying separately! That is a FACT. There are pics of Liam, Gem, Andy, Chris and Jay in Mexico (still in 2008) in a boarding room all together and pics of Noel in the same room earlier, alone. A few days ago I posted a pic of Noel inside an airplane in Brazil with his security guard and I have pics of all the others together one hour or so later. I know that because I took the pics. If someone was an 'outsider', Noel definitely was the one. Have you guys ever heard that 'Dig Out Their Soul Live' bootleg? It's a special recording of one of their gigs in Glasgow back in 2008 provided by Karrang Radio. There were 'interviews' between the songs, and in one of them Liam says: " bla bla bla (something I didn't understand) split up yesterday because we're not staying at the same hotel. Noel's got his life, I do my thing, he does his thing.. we're not splitting up". So that makes me believe that something happened between late october and early november of 2008. We all watched the BBC electric proms gig, which was on october 26th, and everything was fine with them aparently. Liam and Noel even shared a few smiles and fun moments that night. Whatever were the real reasons to make them split up, has to have started on late 2008!

I'm going to buy this tomorrow provided it's on general sale. At that point I'll scan it up (if I'm allowed) as the review given by the poster here isn't a good enough summary for fans (no offence )

Whatever were the real reasons to make them split up, has to have started on late 2008! Can't help but feel like a detective ;D I think something occurred in early 09 that totally derailed the band. I think the Gallaghers had been getting on really well between 2004-2008 and then Noel got annoyed with the events that happened towards the end of recording however they had time apart and were OK once the tour started. Little things probably chipped away at each brother and Noel travelled alone and seemed to live another life than Liam & the band but Liam said at one point he gave Noel some Pretty Green gear when they were on 'almost talking terms' and there is an interview (a very good interview) that was done with the whole band in America - So they were speaking at the end of November 08 and I think they were still on good terms when they toured Europe in early 09 (Jan-March) as wasnt there pictures and videos of them playing in Italy when Del Piero was on the phone? My guess is that there was a little tension carried from recording in LA onto the tour and despite the brothers getting along, an event occurred around March which stopped the two speaking and then eventually broke up the band in August. What that event was.....who knows?

It's such a shame. During the DBTT tour, I said Oasis would continue for several years to come. The relation between Noel and Liam seemed to be at its best. We really should be gearing up (no pun intended) for an 8th Oasis release right now, and I would much rather that than the separate projects.
Something may have happened, and it may have chipped at and eventually eroded the band as been suggested. But I feel Noel wanting 5 years off was the tipping point. No one else was on board about that idea - evidently.
I'm not saying Noel is wrong for wanting 5 years off - having a child and wanting to release solo material (as long as it differs from Oasis) seems legit to me. Although of course I would much rather Oasis have continued under their 3 year cycle (and BDI's early start is great considering the circumstances), but I'd take a 5 year break over the break up any day.
At the very least, it should have been handled much better, by all parties involved. I hate how the break up occurred for the simple fact that it's exactly how the media wanted Oasis to break up, going back to the mid 1990s.
No matter what BDI and Noel achieve - the former should be pretty good, and the latter should be spectacular - neither will have the same force as when they were combined. I will still support and like both acts, but Noel and Liam departing from one another has also split up that magic for me.

I agree the 5 year break will have not gone down well, but neither will have Pretty Green, they both played a part.
I do personally believe Noel wanted to leave Oasis, and I can't blame him. The split may not be what fans want but I think its best for each individual member but I think he went the wrong way about it if he did indeed want the band to split, he went into 'Gallagher' mode and went very stubborn as did Liam and they sort of petered out and cancelled gigs and took swipes.
A mutual split would have been better with them going out with a bang, and playing the gigs like they were there last ever but there wasnt too much love or passion on that last tour.

No one else was on board about that idea - evidently. I think that the 5 year break comments were related to the mounting tensions and the fact that Noel felt like he couldn't stand working with Liam right away rather than the 5 year comments being the cause for the mounting tensions but I am sure that it didn't help with exacerbating the problem. I think that Noel wanting to do a solo album had more to do with it than the idea of time off. Personally I think it would have been great if all the members have done an album after the DOYS tour finished. When Noel mentioned idea a couple of time toward the end I thought that that was a brilliant idea. If Liam had been more receptive to Noel's desire to do a solo album Oasis might have still been together...but he always seem to treat it as all or nothing. Noel seemed like he genuinely envied Thom Yorke's ability to do solo work without the rest of the band resenting him. I don't think Gem or Andy would have had a problem with it. Andy could have DJ'd and possibly done some solo stuff. Gem could have done something solo but I think it was more likely he would have done session stuff...maybe for Weller again. Liam is the only one that you could hardly see doing anything without the support of the others.
