I think DBTT may be slightly better. Which would be a reversal. But I still don't know. Both are really solid albums though, far superior to HC, their worst effort ever.

I don't get why everyone hates Heathen Chemistry, it has the best singles of any post-Morning Glory album. Ok, so the rest of it is pretty rubbish but it deserves credit for the singles if nothing else.

I think it is the third best studio album Oasis have produced. Biggest shame is that GOYHHL and 'Ain't Got Nothin' had to be included, because Liam wasn't around to the vocals for two other songs.
The Turning, Bag it up and Falling down, have such a good sound about them and the first half of that album i feel is better than anything they've done since WTSMG

High point: IOT FD TSOTL TT BUI
Low Point: TNOR AGN HHL TBWTL
Meh: SO WFTR (though some days I really like it)
All in all...I think it was decent. The songs that I like...I really like. Those that I dislike I would still listen to if they came on shuffle. Exception being HHL. Much less songy than DBTT definitely. I liked the direction of DOYS...but I think that they rushed it in the end. Gem, Andy, and a couple of Liams songs were selelected on their ability to fit in with the albums production concept and I think they suffered because of it. Noel's songs were obviously the blueprint which may explain why Noel's seem to come off better.
Wish that they would have just made Noel write a few more to include instead of trying to make square pegs fit into round holes.
Ever since HC there seems to have been this kind of quota system in place. Noel gets about half, Liam gets a quarter, and both Gem and Andy have to have @ least one song. I wonder sometimes if that doesn't play into the selection somehow. It's like they tried to fill the slots according to a formula instead of just laying all the songs in front of them as Oasis tunes (whoever wrote them) and picking the 11 they like best. If they had stayed together I think every album would have broken down like that roughly.

I really like : Falling Down, TSOTL, IOT, SO, BIU, WFTR, and TT.
Overrall its a 8/10. Would have been a 9/10 if they had taken the 7 best songs and had made it into an EP.

Noel really wanted to slight Liam for missing studio time, so he cut Boy With The Blues and I Believe In All which are both better then AGN, TNOR, GOYHHL, SO, and TBWTL. It's sad really that they have to do stuff like that to each other to prove their importance or whatever.
For me the album is really good through 5 songs, then I skip every other track the rest of the way to make it listenable. 1,2,3,4,5,7,9,11 As far as where i rank amongst the Oasis albums:
MG DM BHN DBTT SOTSOG DOYS HC
In short, it has too many songs that I simply don't care for.

But I'd prefer the best tunes over a "concept", because the tunes they went with were shite. TNOR, really?

You get the best tunes regardless as a big fan. But an album that hangs together make the whole the sum of it parts.
That is what I think the case was with DOYS.

Those people who don't like DOYS now in 10 years will be posting here that this album is amazing, just like they understand and appreciate SOTSOG now.
I will up this thread in 2021, when Oasis will be releasing their 9th album, just to confirm it.

I will up this thread in 2021, when Oasis will be releasing their 9th album, just to confirm it. That may happen. Time usually help fans give more appreciation for albums or work. Though the same can be said if you like the album now. In 20 years you may start to believe that its not that good. I don't think everyone who may dislike it now, will like it in years to come. I think some will re-discover this album and learn to like it, while others stay in their original opinion. Sometimes you just like something, sometimes you don't.

^ If it were a 10 track album(ie no AGN, no TNOR) It would be more shocking and it would have a pretty good contrast but since I love it, it dosn't realy matters.

IMO BIU, TT, WFTR, TSOTL, IOT and FD are great.
GOYHHL and SO are nice songs, love this unusual experimental side of Oasis.
TBWTL and TNOR are growing on me.
AGN is shit and I think it always will be, just like ICSAL.

IMO BIU, TT, WFTR, TSOTL, IOT and FD are great. GOYHHL and SO are nice songs, love this unusual experimental side of Oasis. TBWTL and TNOR are growing on me. AGN is shit and I think it always will be, just like ICSAL. This. All my friends loved this album. Especially songs like GOYHHL, TT & FD). They kooked it a little bit. TBWTL should have been guitars like when they played it live. IT was easily the best they sounded all DOYS tour. I was proper blown away. It just slodges along on the record, but with really nice lyrics. GOYHHL is a heavy stomper. I love it. Would have been a great b-side but fits the tone of the album nice and snuggly. AGN is disgusting. The solo is the only thing worth mentioning. IOT is a good, good tune. The keepin on lyrics is a cringer though. Still love it. BIU is one of the best Oasis tunes going. Solid, polished rock n roll band. TT is a really good song. Especially the verses. TSOTL is a great song which goes a little too long. But it has a heap of energy and fucking sounds cool. FD is Noel's craftsman ship. Love it in everyway. Takes the album up a notch. TNOR has cool lyrics and music. But just doesn't work. Should've been a B-side. TBWTB (liams song) could have been a really good song that fit the album had he stopped sucking his own cock. Amazing verses. The choruses just get outta hand. IBIA is a cracking Liam tune. Really love it, unique and boppy. Definitely would have fit on DBTT or Beady Eye's album. But not on the dark DOYS. OVERALL DOYS is a banging album. It's actually my girlfriend's favourite album of all time pretty much. She listens to it from start to end. As a piece in the rankings I'd have to go... 1. DM - Nails the feeling. Such a piece of work. 2. (WTS)MG - Just as good as DM in my opinion. Just a preference thing though. Anthems but not corny. Really solidifed Oasis' reputation. 3. DOYS - A solid band doing their thang. Just fucked up in a few places. Most bands wish they could sound like this. 4. BHN - Could have been as good as the first few if their heads were in the right space. Shouldn't have been so long (all songs). Needed a stripped back approach, kinda inbetween DM and (WTS)MG. So many good songs on here that are just bloated. Still absolutely love this album but it's a case of 'what could have been'. 5. DBTT - Love the Summery feel. How it all binds together with that english feeling. Sounds modern but familiar. Few filler, shitty songs though. And a few moments where things could have turned out better. 6. SOTSOG - Not a bad album. Not one that I want to put on often though. GLIO is a very Oasis-y song. I love it, just drags on a bit like a heap of song post (WTS)MG. I really love the first track, FITB. One of the most experimental Oasis tracks of all time. Came out well. Nearly got Who Needs Love? right... Nearly. Still a good song. 7. HC - I like the structure and idea to LBL it just came out wrong. Badly produced. Stripped back would have been mega. SB is a nice short tune. In Liam's top 3 songs, me thinks. Don't really care for much else. There were some lovely b-sides, Let's All Make Believe and Getting Older.

I love this album, I remember listening to the first track for the first time and thinking about how good Liam sounded. I agree with the sentiment that as an album it is worth more than the parts, although there are a few songs I'll listen to in isolation over and over (I'm Outta Time being my favourite but also Bag It Up, The Turning, Falling Down, To Be Where There's Life)
Overall I would rank this 4th, for me it goes
Definitely Maybe Morning Glory Don't Believe The Truth Dig Out Your Soul Heathen Chemistry Standing on the Shoulder of Giants / Be Here Now
Being my least favourite album just means I don't love it as much as the others. I love all their albums.

Don't really care for much else. There were some lovely b-sides, Let's All Make Believe and Getting Older. I get so tired of hearing about HC. It's a good record. It's in their bottom 3 as of quality yeah, but their worst? I don't think so. Idler's Dream is a great bside, and so is Shout iT out Loud. I'm sure LAMB is a SOTSOG tune, actually I know it is HC is a good album, better than DOYS I think slightly hard to say. I don't get it. It has the best Inst. song they ever did AQP. Songbird is brilliant, LBL, SIL, SCYHO all great. THT, FON and PAITM are weak ones yes, but did DOYS have some weak ones right? Love it

I really do like DOYS, the first is amazing to be honest. The second isn't as good, but I must say, the little guitar solo in TNOR is really, really good, and I really do love SO. There's something about the melody of that song that gets me everytime.

I love DOYS but that may be because I became an Oasis in recent years. BIT, TT, WFTR, TSOTL, IOT, FD, SO all range from good - great. AGN and TBWTL have grown on me as has TNOR but they are still weak songs. HHL is shit though, never could quite get used to it. 7.5-8/10 for the album overall. I like it more than DBBT. Both DBBT and DOYS were good solid albums in their own right.

I still really love the album. It has a very glam-rock sheen to it, and its heavy and groovy at the same time. I do agree that AGN and TNOR arent as good as the rest of the tracks (though i enjoy them on their own) and TBWTL and IOT have valid criticisms.
Bag It Up the Turning WFTR TSOTL IOT (Twiggy remix) GOYHHL FD TBWTL (Richard Fearless remix) SO
How's that? I think the remixes of TBWTL and IOT fit the album better. I like the originals but I think these remixes are better, more ballsy.

weird album for me, i as let down at first but then after a week I really really loved it. but now i NEVER listen to it, i can safely say i havent listened to BIU,TT,WFTR,TBWTL,AGN,TNOR in ages.
gave SO,BWTB,IBIA listens for the 1st time since 2009 last week, Liam did well to write 4 good tunes for that era. just let himself down on AGN.
