Liam, Andy and Gem (And Chris) might well continue to tour sometime. Liam singing Don't Look Back in Anger live anyone? Not that they even need a singer for it. If anything I see Gem going with Noel and Andy going solo. I hope to god Gem works with Noel. I don't want to call it following like he is just some backing musician. I agree with many in saying that Liam's antic have gotten old and I have been growing tired of them all tour. I would hate to see such talent like Gem, Andy, and Chris stick around with such an idiot at the helm. Let's face it, Noel maintained the backbone of the band regardless of the songwriting distribution nowadays. Given Oasis is not Oasis without either one of the brothers, but I feel it would be much more enjoyable with just Noel rather than just Liam. Just my opinion.

I agree with the comments about Liam, ive been pissed off at him ever since he went to get married in the middle of a recording yet has has enough time on his hands to start up a fashion range. Seems to be in a downright lousy mood all the time and isnt even really backing it up with any genius like noel does. Part of me is devistated but i think a bigger part of me is quite excited and glad that maybe noel can cut loose of liam and record some truly great solo stuff. If Gem went with him that would be great too coz gems really cool. Fuck Liam tbh

I know I said that Andy will go solo, which I'm sure he will or maybe even start a new band. I think if Noel records a solo album you will see Gem, Andy, and Chris on it in some capacity.

I really hope noel starts working on a solo album asap. Hopefully this breakup can be the inspiration behind a classic noel gallagher solo album.

I think pretty much every Oasis fan feels the same right now. I just wonder if Liam is still arrogant enough to really believe that Oasis can still exists without Noel. I know Noel has done this before and I' m sure Liam is sitting aruond figuring that it will blow over like the past few times, but I hope he has some regrets (though I doubt it). Yes his attitude is part of what makes them who they are, but like a few of you said, there comes a time when you become too fucking old to pull the same shit. I could actually understand if it was Noel who acted like Liam does, but what does Liam actually contribute to the group anymore? No longer do his vocals add something special...He should've known better

the thing that pisses me of about Liam. Is he always seems "mad fer it" and says "If it were me then I'd take 6 months off then do another record". He seems like he is the one who loves Oasis. But he fucking gets married and fucks up a critical part of the recording process. and on the other hand you have Noel who is more realistic in terms of interviews and can be seen as grumpy, but this guy does the work for Oasis. He does the interviews and all the other good stuff. Sure he may act grumpy (though i truly think even now that Noel loves what he does whether he is in oasis or not) but unlike Liam, Noel walks the walk. I'm not doubting Liam's love for the band I'm just saying Noel keeps the Oasis boat moving and I think he just got tired of Liam fucking around with him. Again we don't know lot so I'll stop here.

I cannot say that I am sad about this one bit. To me, Oasis has always been about Noel's songs and Liam's voice, but in the past few years, Noel has been carrying the band in a way very different from the early days.
I don't think it's permanent. Noel will cool off and eventually the people around them will have them come together on some level and there will be a "comeback", but in between now and that time, I'd like Noel to release a solo record and see how he does on his own.
If it is the end, Ill drink a toast to them, but I can't find the emotion to really get bent out of shape about it at this time. IMO, the band has been treading water for years.

It's not onesided thing and Noel's been fucking around with Liam's mind for the whole duration of band's career. Just saying.

I'm gutted about the news. The band have been a huge part of my life from an early age, so it will be strange not having them around. Having said that, things might work out and they get back together, but it seems doubtful.
Is this the death of the last great British Rock n Roll band? I think so.

If this lasts I bet Liam will go insane. In a couple of years he'd be totally irrelevant and would miss all of the attention. Who the hell's gonna give a fuck about him in 3 years when he either doesn't sing anymore or he comes out with a shit album on his own? Once he goes from being a rock star to a has been he'll go begging Noel for forgiveness.

I'm fucking gutted over this. I can't believe it.
Noel has said for quite some time that the band was going to take a 5 year break before they released another album. A big reason for that is because he planned on releasing a solo album in midst of the break.
A year or two is a long time; maybe there's a chance this blows over after Noel semmers down a bit and realizes how much more he can get out of Oasis before age catches up. I really hope this is a temporary deal. But unfortunately I believe this is really it for Oasis. It would be a disgrace to Oasis fans for Liam to try and carry on with the band without Noel.
But it isn't the end of the world. I think it's obvious that Noel will do a couple solo albums. So at least we will still get to hear some quality material out of him one way or another. I'm a huge Noel fan.
I always thought Liam got too much credit; people on this forum (and Oasis fans in general) are/were so obsessed with Liam and I could never figure out why. He has a distinctive voice, but Noel's voice is quality and he's the one who wrote the songs. Noel meant way more to Oasis than Liam ever did. I've always thought that.
Hopefully things will change within the next year or so. I doubt it will though . . .

I don't know what forums you've been at but generally ~80% of fans side with Noel in about everything. I'm not going to details now, really not in the mood but I'm just saying, Noel is not a saint, Liam has acted and can act childlike way but there's reasons there and many of them are Noel given. As for mattering, I'm not gonna go listing now Liam's contributions in great detail(image, attitude, voice, songs, last proper rockstar) but saying, together they're a lot more than 1+1=2. I'm not that excited about Noel solo at all. Surely it's going to be nice music most likely but this band is something nothing else has been. Noel will never be alone what he was with Liam. And Liam will never be alone what he was with Noel. Personally, I admit Noel has contributed musically more than Liam did but as a whole, as a band, and band is more than just a music, they both have been equally important. A band that truly matters gives you so much more than just the music, it gives you attitude, way to look at things, hope, strenght and something to believe in.

Sad day. A STATEMENT FROM NOEL 28 August 2009 "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. "Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan." Respect to these words by Noel.

The truth is, there's no one to blame here. (And who are we to blame anyone?) The tensions in the band have been the driving force for Oasis over the years. The past few years however, there seemed to be no point in it all. Some decent albums, some brilliant songs, some changes musically yes. But all in all they have achieved all they could have ever wanted to achieve. There is no 'next level' anymore for Oasis. That's why Noel will not return: there is nothing to return to and nothing 'out there' to strive for (as Oasis). Better to burn out than to fade away. It's been a great ride. Now it's time to move on. Right in time before Oasis embarrasses itself as a parody of times long gone, like the Stones or Iggy Pop & co. Noel gets to work solo, and Liam gets to find out what he is and can do without Oasis. These are the new challenges they face now. And we will be watching and waiting for what comes out of it: interesting times are upon us now the mould of oasis is broken. I think Noel working on a solo-album and whatever Liam is gonna do is more exciting than another two or three years of waiting for a new Oasis album, all the while praying it's gonna be the next DM or MG. Noel and Liam have enriched our lives in the past and I am sure they will continu to do so in the future. As a fan I thank Oasis for what they did, but it would be silly to expect them to do it forever. The day Liam and Noel Gallagher stop making music with or without each other, is the day I am gonna feel sad. Not today. Today is, though strange, the beginning of something truly new and exciting. And you have to admit: splitting the band an hour or so before a gig: does anything sound more like Oasis to you? Noel, Liam, Andy, Gem & Chris: See you in the next one, have a good time!

This only paves the way for me and my band...hah..
...but no seriously this is fucking shi'ite muslim. I really do think that Noel will do something anyway soon whether its solo plans or rejoin. He might be rich, but there's fuck all the lads good at other than playing music. He'll carry on.
Liam on the other hand...I think he'll just try to do some Man Of Misery style crap and become a washed up rock star thinking he's still living the dream.
...I know everyone says Oasis is Liams voice/Noels music....but to be honest I listen to Noel sung songs more.
I would rather sit and listen to Waiting For The Rapture/Falling Down than some of the Liam sung stuff....so if Noel goes solo and these types of songs still come up, I'm game.
