I have no doubt that they will reunite in the future, but it might not be for a while. In the meantime, as gutted as I am, it's not like they're all announcing their retirement from the music industry. *thank god*

Its sad and disappointing, but there are some positives to come out of it.
Whether you like it or not, Oasis aren't seen as a one of the great bands. They are seen as a band who had two brilliant albums but finished as a parody of themselves. Rightly or wrongly.
From SOTSOG to 2005 they were universally mocked. It was only after split rumours in 2004 that it became "cool" to like them again. "You don't know what you've got til its gone" couldn't be more true, at least now it's official they'll get the recognition they deserve.
Noel will release the long awaited solo album.
We were expecting to wait 5 years until the next album/tour anyway. At least now we'll get something new and interesting in between.

For all the rumors and madness we've endured over the years, I have to say that the official statement hit me like a punch in the gut. Fuck! My first two initial thoughts were whether Liam would try to continue Oasis without Noel and if Noel would finally make that solo album (or release the fully demoed album he already recorded). Strange days....

can't believe what i'm reading. It's been coming for a while though, and maybe this is better as the fans will hopefully hear more music. Perhaps we might finally get a rarities album full of unreleased material??
