Yeah, I'm pretty fucking disappointed in Australia missing out on this tour. Sure, DOYS didn't sell spectacularly but, as we've said countless times, Oasis have a loyal enough fanbase to sell out multiple shows in the capitals at medium-sized indoor venues.
There is no love for the band here either in the press or on radio. The Shock of The Lighting was played once on Triple J in October 2008- hard and all as it is to believe, that's about the only spin the song has received on the airwaves here! It's fashionable to hate a lot of bands who are perceived as having 'had their day' especially a band comprising two of gobbiest people on Earth.
I could weep but Oasis are destined to be remembered by the average punter over 25 in Australia in three ways, 1) the "Beatles band" who recorded Wonderwall, 2) the band who got a life ban from Cathay Pacific Airlines and 3) the band with the lead singer who headbutted a fan in the face.
The 2002 and 2005 tours partly redeemed Oasis but they will be always be the greatest rock band that never was in Oz. Fuck, most of the bile that's popular here ain't in the same league. A DOYS tour would have blown all that other medicore shite away... A shame!

Not really much good coming over if they're not gonna sell tickets.
You say yourselves that they're not that popular over there so why bother?
I understand that you want to see them in Australia or whatever, but do 10/20,000 a night want to?

in light of what's already been said, i would have thought a decent period would need to be allowed for promotion of ticket sales. that being the case, an OZ/NZ tour is looking unlikely. lets say something was planned for Sept/Oct, surely they would need to be advertised NOW, not like they're going to sell out overnight. Logistically, it costs a lot to cart all the equipment over there, so you need to sure of the returns and making a good profit. financially, it probably just isnt worth the hassle. plus, the band would need visas, perhaps Liam couldn't get one

oasisinet.com/NewsArticle.aspx?n=767"On Sunday 30th August, Oasis will finish their current world tour at I-Day Milano Urban Festival." So that confirms no Australia this time. Very disappointing they are not coming to this part of the world this time. Although I hoped they would, I knew they wouldn't come to NZ so thank heavens I ended up being in London during the Wembley gigs so I finally managed to see them live. Strange Australia have missed out though. They always go there and as far as I know usually sell out.

Noel mentioned in one interview that Australia and Russia would be included on the DOYS tour. However, that was probably the plan that was laid out in front of him at that time and for one reason or another it's been scrapped. There are some many factors involved in touring and sometimes plans fall through, like in anything. But the bottom line is that if it's not economically viable, it won't happen and the decision has obvioulsy been taken to end the tour in August and not to incur the HUGE costs of shipping everything to the other side of the planet again to play gigs to 5,000 people. its not that hard to believe really. Is it? ?

All I can say is thank god I didn't trust the promise of a gig in Russia and travelled to Wembley....
