Im pretty sure Noel didnt pick Songbird and pretty sure Liam influenced that Not sure about that. In lock the box interview, Noel said songbird is a great song and doesn't matter who wrote it. Also said that Noel came with the idea of playing it at live shows true dat

NEVER slate STC. It's the reason how I became an Oasis fanatic - the day I bought it for £7 was a great day. I listened to it, and I couldn't believe my ears - this was the best thing I'd ever listened to. Same here. My reason for getting into Oasis also!

Nice to hear that someone turns to be an Oasis fan because of STC.
New fans are all welcome!

STC is a good album, it's a best of.. it has made the kids born in the early to mid 90s know who they are, and it does a great job at showing some of their best songs.
We are not complaining that it doesn't have 30 or 40 tracks. People are eluding to this. We are just bothered by how incomplete it is. It just doesn't make sense that it's so short. I almost feel cheated. I guess maybe Noel looks at it as a brief retrospective of Oasis through 6 albums... cough, 5 albums (no Be Here Now). Should of had 20 songs minimum.
If I could pick how many songs (they would all fit, over 50 minutes is free) I would pick 12 per cd, that isn't too many or too few, perfect.

^How can you feel cheated? You yourself just said it's for the next generation of kids, and those that follow them. Best ofs are ways to introduce a band to someone by highlighting some of their best work. Ideally, after listening to the collection, the kids will realize how good it is and buy the albums - thus getting all the other gems not on the best of.
If all the good songs were on a best of collection, there would be no incentive to buy the albums. Again, best ofs are a marketing tool to get people into the band so they can splash more cash on the actual albums. With this in mind, you would have to say STC is (or at least will be) a success. [That being said, it was a mistake to ignore BHN....]

Yeah I just almost feel cheated ya know. I feel like they should of added 4-6 more songs in there. That is what I meant.
Ignoring BHN is just unbelieveable. It's a great album.

I listened to BHN recently when decorating - I'd forgotten how ridiculous, crazy and down right mind blowing that album is. It's so silly, and so over blown it's actually amazing. Truly, amazing. And it has some of Liam's best vox on. And it lasted for the whole duration of my painting. Actually, I think it's still playing now......

STC is this a secret Oasis album? I've never heard of it before.
I guess you have to be an insider.
Secret Trickery Compact Disc?
I personally am not so bothered about a Be Here Now remaster although it will be interesting perhaps, I am more interested in a reissue of that first Beady Eye record.

The track list was good. Just needed to bin off Talk Tonight and put on The Hindu Times and Stand By Me.

It was a record company idea. When Supergrass did their 10 years celebration they did a dvd documentary that had enthusiasts video footage on it and got involved with their own best of CD.
Stop the Clocks didn't have anything new on it or interesting.
Everything on there you can find on The Masterplan CD or the first two Oasis albums.

1. Songbird (Remix) 2. Better Man (Remix) 3. Born on a Different Cloud (Remix) 4. Little James (Remix) 5. Songbird (Remix Reprise) 6. Better Man (Remix Reprise) 7. Born on a Different Cloud (Remix Reprise) 8. Little James (Remix Reprise) 9. Live Forever

The biggest problem with the track listing was that it made Oasis look like they were living off past glories which is something they were / are often criticised for anyway.
14/18 tracks taken from 1994/1995 is embarassing really.

Nearly 10 years since this was released, time flies!
I was listening to the band just under 10 years before the release of Stop The Clocks so it was a nothing release for me. I liked the Lock The Box DVD though, and the artwork is pretty cool.

I've never had a problem with Stop The Clocks. Yeah could it have had a couple more tunes on it? Sure but pound for pound, these 18 tracks is what made Oasis........GREAT.

I'd actually be quite intrigued to see what another greatest hits album would look like. Time Flies took a fairly obvious approach compiling the singles, and STC would make another best of fairly redundant, but that's never stopped any other band. I'm sure there will be one down the road, and I'd be surprised to see Stand by Me and Stop Crying Your Heart Out snubbed again

The biggest problem with the track listing was that it made Oasis look like they were living off past glories which is something they were / are often criticised for anyway. 14/18 tracks taken from 1994/1995 is embarassing really. This is a great point. Songs like Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Little By Little, Stand By Me, D'you know what i Mean etc would easily still maintain the strength of the album while giving the more casual fans and even cynics a reminder that hang on, they did have great singles past 95. While people say oh we all have the albums etc, it still pisses me off that my Dad got the "Best of Oasis" from HMV and thinks fucking Lyla must be one of their best songs because its on there. Until there is a new best of, ideally picked by fans, it will still grate on me.
