I think Noel hates BHN so much is because it killed the Oasis momentum.
If you look back at 1997 and the bands that released albums that year, Blur, Radiohead, Teenage Funclub, The Verve, Oasis release the worst album.

It is ignored because Noel is under the (false) impression that it is a bad album Now someone tell me why Songbird is on there?!!!

I might be wrong in saying this but maybe Chris Sharrock has something to do with it, his drumming style is very similiar to Zaks, very heavy handed straight rock rhythms, maybe the reason theyve been choosing stuff like lyla over stuff from be here now and their earlier stuff (and why no live foever noel!!!?!) is because the band have such a different sound now, the drummer can be such a crucial part of the band, i dont think anyone on this forum would choose zak or sharrock over alan white... cause he was Oasis, he gave them their sound and style

Stand By Me and Don't Go Away are Oasis classics.
I'm not too fond of All Around the world its way over the top, but I agree that DYKWIM should have been on it.

my sole reason for living is to see Oasis play DYKWIM... no joke, if they ever play this then I will explode
I pretty much had a period when I heard they were bringing back my Big Mouth.
Please bring back BHN into the set list Noel!!!

I don't know why so many people dislike Be Here Now. Songs like Don't Go Away, Stand By Me, All Around The World, D'You Know What I Mean and It's Getting Better Man definitely deserve to be on an Oasis greatest hits. They should have made it 3 discs, and added some more songs.
Be Here Now is actually my favorite Oasis album, after the first two of course.

So, Noel often said he doesn't like Be Here Now. Well, why? So many things went wrong in his life when this album was made and after it was released. Massive drug addiction, a marriage that ended in divorce, ...

Because it is the only mediocre Oasis album. But they've released albums that are worse then mediocre, so why ignore the lesser of evils?

I understand that the album wasn't well recieved by critics, but there are at least two songs that should have been on the compilation. The two clear choices (in my opinion) would be Stand By Me and All Around The World, with It's Getting Better Man and I Hope I Think I Know coming in second. Does anyone agree? Jess , you are so right BHN is overlooked becuse nothing AND I MEAN NOTHING could follow up DM AND WTSMG,that said if another band put out all around the world, stand by me , its gettin better man they would be hailed as gods but OASIS had to live up to a higher standard(lennon macca)

Want to know why I think Noel didn't include any BHN on STC.
He was in a snit. Simple as that. He was feeling badly about BHN when he was doing the track listing.
He goes through phases about BHN. Sometimes he says that it is a good album badly produced, sometimes it's pure bullocks, sometimes it's an alright album that got crushed under the hype of expectations, sometimes it's half good half bad.
And I have noticed that everytime Noel picks a few songs that are good off that album he seems to pick a different set.
He has called All Around the World and DYKWIM both brilliant and shite at different times for instance.

Be Here Now suffered because of the huge expectations that surrounded it's hype prior to release. It's a competent, valid and ballsy OASIS album, but it clearly lacks the verve and vitality of the previous two platters, which the group never equalled, let alone topped in my view.
Noel's folly, of course, was to insist on turning out a pseudo-Beatle-esque 'Sgt-Pepper-like' waxing, complete with reprise of 'all Around the World' which was a near carbon-copy of the SGT Pepper outro.
He should have gone the route as laid out on 'Morning Glory' which had carved it's own identity, perhaps bunging in two tunes or so with 'overdubbed overproduction', but certainly not to the bloated, painful length of the overcooked final platter that was as suffocating as it was contrived.
Simpler, more pared-back tunes would have fared better [Morning Glory was recorded in a fraction of the time, with the vitality kept intact] . Yes, hindsight is easy to come up with in reterospect, but for me at least, Oasis never really fully recovered from the damaging musical fall-out of BHN, and as a direct result of this, the 'Beatles Crown' so desired by Noel and the boys failed to materialize, robbing them of soaring them into the true big-time, as achieved by the Fabs.
