I was thinking of Bond themes when I heard some of the bass work, perhaps this aspect of it prompted your posts ? that and the string section.

Calm down everyone. This is a perfect example of "new material euphoria". Once it sinks in, you'll all hate it as much as I do. Horrid production. cock cock cock

I think adding an ignore feature to this forum would be of great benefit to those of us who enjoy the discussion here save for a few small detractors.
I agree the bass tone is awesome, Bond-esque indeed.

Have listened to it more.
Still really like.
I though have to say that the chorus is the part I like least. You have heard that kind of Noel chorus before and better also. I actually like Mucky Fingers chorus better but as whole this is deffo better than TIOBI, MF and POTQ.
I really love when the strings come in and the guitarline. The verse is awesome.

Moan alert! I haven't been on here since January or something because I've been in hibernation, awaiting the album. But that got really boring. From my point of view, it's mediocre. I'm struggling to see absolutely anything amazing in this tune. Actually I’ve forgotten how it goes already. I'm of the strong belief that "butterfly" is a word that should never be used in the lyrics of a rock 'n' roll band. "I cried the rain that fills the ocean wide"? What?! The whole thing sounds like it's building up to something, but all it does it get a bit busier and then ends. In terms of lyrics it's just miserable. Cheer up, Noel, it doesn't suit you. But despite this I'm digging the "vibe" - no matter how bad you think it is, you have to appreciate their experimentation. I’ve no doubt there’ll be far better songs on the album. I've got to be completely honest and say that I'd be disappointed if this was a b-side. I don't care what anyone says. It’s very easy to get all excited about the new album and so on and to say that everything’s amazing the first time you hear it. Not saying that some people here aren’t genuinely in love with it, I’m just pointing that out. My main point is - I dislike the song, but I like the style and direction of it, if you get me.

it's really interesting listenig to the lamacq/be here now interview on radio 1 from way back in the day. noel - drugged as he is - talks about how he's never going to make another straight rock and roll record and how he didn't take any chances with Be Here Now. now some can debate what SOTSOG was, but Heathen Chemistry was defintely a rock record , as was DBTT (but the production values were a lot different and the songs were stronger than HC overall). This song sounds like what they should have released after Be Here Now in a lot of ways. I'm loving this...I'm sure the whole album won't sound like this but still, nice to hear them taking a chance in the studio.

There are still plenty of people - myself included - still sharing, so make your PM requests in Sound & Vision and let's keep direct links off the forum.

I'm avi'n it thank you very much. A very rich and multi layered sound. It's very different that anything that's come before, and for that I am very thankful.
It's funny - I really like DBTT, but every song on that album sounds hollow and rather flat compared to this.
