Fucking lovin' it!!!! I really liked DBTT (unlike many on the forum), maybe because, for the first time in ages they had tried to do something different. The first time I heard Turn Up The Sun, I was so amazed by it... Falling Down IS that something different!!! If DOYS goes down this path, I'll be really pleased.
I'll give it 8,5/10 for now.

it sounds like "head" by death in vegas. makes you think how dbtt would have sounded with death in vegas as producers.
its a banging tune, really love it. sounds crazy from 3 mins.
can see why noel said on russell brand that liam was shouting "we're back, we're back" in the studio when they were mixing in LA.

Excellent stuff.
Nice to hear something a little quirky and different from the band. The echoed vocals in the middle eight, the subtle almost dance like repititive strings (at least I think they're strings).
Can see what Noel's been talking about with getting away from repititive "songy songs". Great Lyrics too.
Hope there's songs that better then it. Cos if there is then we're in for something that'll stand up witht he band's best work!

Not single material, but hardly filler. Solid song. Not crazy about the production. 7/10 Yeah, I'd agree with that assessment. If this is the strongest track on the album then I'd be a bit worried, but if this is the standard we are getting on the album tracks then this album is going to be their best since Be Here Now.

ok I've been hearing the song for a quite longtime, and i'm thinking that the chorus it's completely Oasis, a lot like what we see in some b-sides... but the rest is actually really groovy... the bass reminds me of their version of Within You Without You... quite what i thought they meant by "groovy"... anyway, love the song.... guess i'll be talking about it all night...

but do you guys really think it's such a great tune? The production is very interesting, but the song and the melody is in my opinion pretty average.

Ive listened to it 5 times now, and each time gets better. The lyrics are great its like some acid trip, sounds just like something of piper at the gates of dawn in the middle there, tomorrow never knows drums. Brilliant, well done Noel.

but do you guys really think it's such a great tune? The production is very interesting, but the song and the melody is in my opinion pretty average. Ok, the production DOES play a great part on it. But isbn't the production part of what makes a great song? The lyrics are good, and the bass line really sets a groovy line on it. And, as I said before, the fact that it brings something new to that familiar Oasis sound adds so much to it. Or maybe it's just the high of a new Oasis song hitting hard...

IMO, the production doesn't emphasize the chorus enough until the end.
The song's high point is at 3:14. And again at 3:28. Not sure why the other choruses weren't given the same treatment.
As a result, the song seems to plod along (which is fine) but the choruses work so well when they explode.

The lyrics are great indeed...but it's just that, even after playing it a few times, the tune doesn't stay in my head. The melody is too simple and therefore becomes pretty boring after a while. In my opinion it's not catchy enough. Then again, maybe that's what Noel is trying to achieve with DOYS
