Nice one, Mr Mono
Looks good, not really surprised with any of the picks, possibly save Lyla... although it was a #1, so I suppose you can't really leave it off a greatest hits
Like the cover art too. I guess this confirms no Stop the Clocks -- interesting. They've got to release it at some point, and why name an album that if that song isn't on there? Bonus track? or just Noel being cheeky?

So, gave my mate the link and he reckons stop the clock will still be on it
My argument - why would noel give 'his best song written' to this project when he hates the idea of it so much
His argument - why call it STC and not include the song...
We've got a pint riding on this...whats your thoughts?

His argument - why call it STC and not include the song... Exactly, would be very strange to not include the title track. Must be a bonus track surely.

I would think there's no way it won't be a bonus track... but STC is so hyped-up by now, plus you don't release a greatest hits or whatever without "including the never-before released track ____" if it includes such a song. It makes no sense that STC would be on there but yet everyone incl. Sony and Oasis staying mum on it all through now. When you put on new matieral that's so hotly anticipated, you'd think you'd try to market that point just a tiny bit, and not just put it on as a bonus track and not mention it in any of the news releases.

We've got a pint riding on this...whats your thoughts? Put 20 pints on it. This is the tracklisting confirmed. No more speculation. When Noel was taking about DBTT he said that it could have been called 'Stop The Clocks' because it was a great title. Obviously that train of thought has applied here, and also the title sums up the record in some way. As for Stop The Clocks being a bonus track - that's wishful thinking. If it was going to be on, it'd be announced to get some sales out of it. The song isn't going to be on there, just as it was hinted at in the initial press release.

Yeah nothing from BHN, that's a real disappointment. If it wasn't for the bonus DVD version, I wouldn't come anywhere near this album.

This makes sense in that its sony japan, but on the other hand..every japanese release has extra tracks/dvds as incentive for people to buy the japanese versions which are actually more expensive than the us versions..ill put money on stop the clocks being included..that could just be the main disc in japan with a 2nd bundled disc featuring "stop the clocks" and "boy with the blues"..and as i recall, its supposed to be a double disc, which might explain the flow of it a little better..i dont understand ending on dlbia with cs before it..thats just inexplicable

You won't get those 18 songs on one CD, they all come to around 87 minutes. Also, if there were any Japanese bonus tracks, it'd have (bonus track) on the page. Everyone knows it was going to be an 18-track album, and this is 18 tracks. You wouldn't get a new track on a greatest hits album buried away as a hidden track anyway, it'd be at the forefront, as a single and all, to get some sales out of it. And, The Masterplan and Familiar To Millions (the other two Oasis 'compilation' albums) didn't have any Japanese bonus tracks. I don't know people are still theorising about new tracks being on there. Even the very first press release made it clear that this was an 18-track "retrospective". There was never a shed of credible evidence to suggest a new song would be on the record. Only the title.

Well, The Masterplan had bonus packaging, I'm not sure what FTM had in Japan. Perhaps a single release? It seems silly to title it without the track..Very silly..its also out of character. Given it's release on Nov. 20 and the proximity of Noel's solo show then, I just can't see him doing his typical show of Live Forever, Wonderwall, Talk Tonight, and The Importance of Being Idle...none of it makes sense..especially the laziness that this compilation reaks of. a video for acquiesce? they made one for the live performance of the gmex when it was on the masterplan...i cant see them miming to a song recorded by an entirely different band (tony, guigs, bonehead)..so that would presumably be re-recorded, right? thatd just be a sham otherwise. the band doesnt strike me as being that disrespecful to bonehead and guigs.

With that tracklisting i really don't see why i'd want to buy it aside from the collection's sake.
Talk Tonight and Half the World Away? I'm not saying those are bad songs, but i don't think both of them belong there. Maybe one would be fine. And i also can't fathom why songbird is there.
Would liked to have seen something from BHN, supersonic and maybe even gas panic or some other b-sides instead.

yeah, gas panic should definitely have been on there..i cant understand go let it out..its like they chose the poppiest part of the catalog possible..

I know not all of the albums had the title on the art... ie. Heathen Chemistry, Be Here Now.
But WTF... with a title like Stop the Clocks, you figure they would showcase it. I'm not too preturbed with the tracklisting, everyone's got a different "best of" anyway. I guess we can only wait to see... I know I'll buy it no matter what & probably multiple copies, even though at this point it does seem like a waste.

You know, I'm calling bullshit.
I could easily be wrong and the fact that it's on a Sony Japan site does give me pause.
But Noel always said he believed a greatest hits collection should be in chronological order. Also, I would have thought at least ONE song from Be Here Now (say, DYKWIM or DGA), would have been included.
I do have another theory, though. Since Noel absolutely didn't want to do a greatest hits collection until the band wound up, it's possible the band's putting this out as a "retrospective" - just a snapshot of the band's favorite cuts rather than a true greatest hits collection. Which means that maybe in ten years there will be a more complete collection that just covers the singles and a few popular album cuts.
