personally i think people bring politics into music far too much, i'm glad oasis arent doing it, leave it to chris martin and all his lot.
as for what difference it would make, not much in my book, the last one didnt exactly change the world, did it ?

i think chris martin releases that he is just a singer in a band, and thats why he supports make trade fair, a campaign that needs that type of support, the whole make noise thing, he knows his place though, bono however certinly dosent, who the fuck is bono to tell the leaders of the world to "not blow it" bono is an under - educated rich northern dubliner and its not his place to tell those who have spent years in politics and understand what is acheiveable, great singer, great musican, but his head is so far up his own arse he can give himself a filling

It raises awareness to issues that the many idiots in the world wouldn't even know existed otherwise. The people that watch big brother instead of the news wouldn’t have a clue. The fact that everyone then knows about it means that the politicians become accountable, and everyone will be looking out for progress.
It doesn’t automatically mean something will happen as a result but it put the pressure on.

I think it's good to see positive action to beat poverty, and I'm all for wiping out world debt. What annoys me is, the leaders of some of these poverty stricken countries live in multi million pound mansions , and the capitol cities are not so much different from our own cities. Like I said, I'm all for wiping out the debt, but don't you agree that their leaders should start doing something aswell.

The truth is Africa is at fault for poverty. They're richest natural resource nation in the world and no way richest countries can bail them out of poverty. Only they can bail themseleves out.
Only thing this concert is good for people to remember again, because many may forgot.

Yes, but they can force that trade if they wanted. You know what Britian and others do really bomb them? Go in attack them? Cut off food supplies? I mean really comes down it, they can strong arm other nations with fair trade agreements. We need there oil, diamonds, and all. It's really up to them and there government not other countries, because other countries look whats best for themseleves not others so much.

i'm gonna watch the versailles one... some good bands: muse, placebo and the cure...
i dont think it is very useful because G8 countries are already aware of poverty and problems in africa and so is everyone...
as rain said africa is a very rich continent (diamonds, petrol...) but the main problem is corruption and politics...

they may have a lot of resources but they dotn have the money for the technology to develop it...
and i dotn blame them considerign they have a shit load of problems on their hands, apart from the high level of corruption -like the millions of people who are stuck in poverty ruts. and long term issues like providing education to get the man power (instead of say, multi nationals coming in to help use up those resources....-.-) to successfully manage those resources is a long way off
and no, no one will bomb them....but its not as if african nations self impose trade barriers!! its when richer countries have protectionist policies and tariffs that it hurts trade for poorer countries, and thats an issue that rich nations have entire control of, and full ability to stop
maybe this wont revolutionise the world. but its an effort - and any attempt to try and alleviate this rather horrific situation in africa will get my support.
politicans arent all evil- but unless we show them that we care, how and why do we expect them to care enough to do something about it??

Live Aid was about raising money
Live8 was about raising awareness, which I believe it did raise worldwide attention .
