That's the best "love" song to me although Patti would kill me for calling it as a love song. There's so much love for her (late) husband in this song. So so beautiful.

I knew you would comment I heard it first time last week, and I have to be careful in not overplaying it now, ruining the magic that I up until this point have felt every single time. Very intimate and powerful. Also cool that this is another link to Springsteen. Like many know he wrote Because The Night, and Frederick is built on the chords from the chorus of Prove It All Night, released one year previously.

Kimberly from Patti's debut album was a great ispiration for The Hand That Rocks the Cradle by The Smiths. Moz and Johnny are both huge fans of Patti and they met each other at her gig for the first time years before they formed The Smiths. Patti opened her gig with Kimberly some years ago and I was blown away.

I think it originated from them all having Irish parents and choosing the most common English last name as a funny joke, but maybe their love for Patti could have also been a contributing factor?

No, it got nothing to do with Patti, but they've chosen it as the most common English name indeed. Also Factory Record wanted to have them, but they turned down the offer and choose yet pretty unknown Rough Trade back then.

Columbia from BBC 6 Music Knebworth Special 2016 I went nuts when the intro kicked off when I saw Liam last year and people around me had no idea why. A bunch of casual fans.

Considering the respective age of the band members are 16, 14, 13 and 10 this is fantastic. Hope they go all the way.
