I'm watching shorts on YouTube now from channels I'm subscribed to and much older David and Paul seem to be in much better shape, both mentally and physically. They don’t give show that worn-out, addict vibe at all.
Anyway, I like Blur and wish them all the best, I hope it will get better for them.

Well yeah those two never had that self Destruction feeling inside them. Paul is songwriter before everything else, his drugs has always been music; and he has been a vegetarian for like what 50 years; So i guess he doesnt touch alcohol, cigarettes and drugs either. Gilmour always seemed like a very clean kinda guy too. On the other hand you have Keith Richards who is a walking pathogen and doesnt age. Humans are weird, we dont all have the same settings; But i guess not taking weird susbstances helps ! damon is a big drinker, he's probably the one who aged the worst, alex james second. Let's remember Coxon was fired because of substance abuse in the early 00s too, so that must have been pretty bad since the rest were also doing it heavily !

Well, it turned out that it doesn't necessarily have to be that Graham was the worst and that is what I am talking about. Documentary is full of that classic behavior by people who are addicts and full of lying that they do. They accuse each other of being addicts, and it’s hard to tell who's worse.
Damon had that famous story about heroin, saying he quit easily because he was lucky enough not to have an addictive personality. He even said back then that he could smoke a cigarette and then not smoke for months.
Now that whole story falls apart as he’s turned into a classic, washed-up old addict. It reminds me of that famous Mark Twain quote: ''Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times'.
Many people do drugs, especially in the rock and roll business, but they don’t act like this. And they don’t look like this either. This reminds me the most of Pete Doherty in his younger days.
Watch it, it's on piratebay 🤣

My addiction is probably playing guitar or piano, that's it. Tried cigs, did not like it, tried once Canabis and got into a very bad trip ! alcohol is ok in small amounts... so its not for me. I was once addicted maybe to red bull when i was waking up at 5 am to work but that's about it I guess addiction comes from various places, trauma but also your surroundings. Some people have that "i gotta do this to fit in, everyone else is doing it" and it can lead to dangerous behaviors. All in all they are not bad people (i think, you never know these days), but the Ballad of Darren did not sound like happy record compared to say... the great escape Blur always seemed like a "happy" band but the lyrics were always kinda dark. Past 50 all those addictions come to get you. Damon is really a guru for the other 3 so what you describe is not surprising. Graham always act like a little kid around him.

Damon doesn’t look that bad, y’all are cold blooded lol. He just started out so pretty. At least he cut off that god forsaken mullet! I like his turn of the century French peasant vibe lol. I do hope he stops drinking though. That shit will kill you at 50+ ☹️

Coxon was kinda sick looking too but the recent pedal show interview, he seemed much much better

That shit will kill you at 50+ ☹️ I don't know how to explain, it is not that he is looking bad but something about him... his posture, his eyes in some scenes... he just looks akward and like an addict or I don't know, maybe he has some medical issue. It's not like that he looks bad for his age like, I don't know, Homer Simpson 😂 It's some weird and sad vibe and appearance.

I've never been into drugs but cigs are hard to quit. I think people overlook because it looks simple to quit (they smell bad and everyone knows they harm you, so why won't you quit?) but it's definitely not. The worst is that they creep into your daily life to the point you cannot stand to wait for a bus without it. I stopped drinking for a while because drinking used to make me crave smoking. And since they don't affect your behaviour in a way it stands out to people (they do, but people won't notice), it gets harder and harder to quit. I hate the thing and still I crave one every now and then. I cannot even imagine what is feels like to deal with addiction to hard drugs

I am not sure when Macca stopped, but he did smoke weed for a big part of his life. He seems very fit and in good health for someone who is 80+.

Stay strong, mate.
Talking about Blur, it's definitely not like I'm mocking them for looking old. I just watched parts of the documentary again, and it's more about that they have that sad, addicted look, which makes me feel sad.
Worst of all, I think they’re still using various substances. It's not that I'm making fun of Alex for crying—quite the opposite. It's just that his expression while crying is that classic junkie look. And it really seems like it's from some bad drugs, like crack. I hope he finds peace and that things get better. Of course, everyone has the right to be sad for whatever reason, but here he mentioned partying when he was young or something like that and immediately put on that sad face and burst into tears, which doesn't exactly seem like the reaction of a stable person. It's generally unpleasant to me to talk about this, but as I said, his crying and facial expression remind me of someone asking for money on the street to get high. Others do drugs too, but they're not in this state—these guys look like crack addicts to me
Damon more like alcoholic. There something sad about their look, it is not that they look that bad but just sad, I hope they get better. Something in the eyes, I dont know

You're lucky. I've never been into drugs but cigs are hard to quit. I hate the thing and still I crave one every now and then. I cannot even imagine what is feels like to deal with addiction to hard drugs Yeah nicotine is a strong drug too, the problem being that it is sold legally, so people dont see it as hard drug, but it is, it affects the brain for years even after you quit. It must be really hard to quit. Biking, running or just walking can help maybe ? They produce the happiness drug Or music, have you tried ? I know guitar and piano helped me a lot during my life, songwriting too. Drums too when you are really mad hehe just pouding on those drums for 5 minutes, it makes wonder. It doesnt matter if its good or not, but capturing your thoughts into a song can help making it go away from your mind. It can also be writing, or just i dont know dancing, or anything that make your mind escape reality for a bit. There's also the painting therapy that seems to work well. oasisserbia indeed Damon looks 10 years older compared to last year! you're 100% right, its worrying at that stage.

I have not seen it ? What did they say ? most musicians are not fit for a "regular" life anyway, most artists even. Demons tends to come back later in life too. Graham seem better now than 2 years ago though. Anyway, Great band of course ! Although the last record was a bit disappointing. More like a solo Albarn record with Coxon guitars; The condition of all four is terrible. Four former and apparently still current addicts who are falling apart throughout the entire documentary. Their condition is very poor. They aren’t really old enough to be falling apart like that; they're like 55 years old, that is not old. And the band sounds much worse, too. Everything feels sad. They simply look like four aging addicts, some more, some less. Their physical condition is also poor; they’re all overweight and hunched over. They all seem to be falling apart in the same way, both mentally and physically. In the end, Graham comes across as the best of them. They look tired and worn out, with a lot of uncontrolled crying—not in a human, emotional way, but more in a way typical of addiction. They simply don’t seem to be in good shape or in a good place in life. I don't mean to offend them in any way by saying this, I love both the band and them personally but everything just feels sad. I know Rowntree was a coke addict and Coxon was an alcoholic, pretty sure Damon was heroin, not sure about Alex James... are you saying they're all in the midst of those addictions still? Granted they do look and sound tired, but I always got miserablist vibes from the band even at their peak.

FDA in the US don't properly regulate them and those nicotine cartridges can have five times or more the amount of nicotine that's in a standard cigarette.

What can I say for sure that they are not 100% done with it, they don't look like completely new people who decided to create new life. There are still many signs of typical addict behaviors. Dave seems ok and I think that he is done with it. For Graham is hard to say because he is very anxious person with or without drugs and alcohol but I think that he is done with addiction. Damon and Alex are still typical addicts if you ask me. Maybe they don't use it all the time like in the old days but addiction is still there.

Watching it now, first few mins, Albarn seems completely depressed. Obviously drunk most of the time, and other substances. Hope he gets better one day
He has that look, definitely. Never had that look before.

Well it was kinda sad to watch. Damon looked really depressed, and the other 3 didn't seem to be in a good place either. At least they seemed honest about it, felt like a "real" documentary compared to say, As it was.
I get why Damon only makes sad albums now.

Not a big fan of the band but I still think they piss all over most other bands. There’s a handful of songs of theirs that I don’t mind. As for addictions etc then wish them all the best if they are struggling.
