Not even close....
You need to get All Mod Cons, Setting Sons, and Sound Affects. These albums blow his solo material to shreds.

The Jam - one of the greatest bands ever, "All Mod Cons" and "Setting Sons" are my favourite albums of them. live4evr, you should listen to "Stanley Road" too.

No Style Council? Although I would consider them the weakest.

Style Council doesn't even deserve to stand in The Jam's shadow.
They're not that bad but it would be The Jam by a long shot

No Style Council? Although I would consider them the weakest. I still have a tiny problem with Style Council although I do have 2 albums of them...

definitely a tough one. The Jam was so brilliant and so short-lived, Weller's gone on to create a truly superb catalogue (Come On let's Go, Changingman, Sunflower).
Id have to go with the Jam, but its very very VERY close.

The Jam, definitely. I'm obsessed with Beat Surrender, what a tune!

Is a toss-up for me: Songs-wise, The Jam were better, had more classics, etc. But in terms of listening to it, I far prefer Weller's voice nowadays from the shouty Watford "yoof" style he had back then. So basically my answer is the Weller of today singing the songs of The Jam. Simple

Easy one The Jam and I like The Style Council too but I've never really liked Weller's solo material.
