It sounds like Liam's more upbeat answer to Noel's The Man Who Built The Moon Definitely got TMWBTM vibes as well tbh. Love the tune, great closer

Great tune, one of my favorites tbh. The ending still sounds a bit weird to me but I'm sure I'll get over it.

I was just listening to Supersonic and it suddenly dawned on me --- in about 5 years Definitely Maybe will be 30 years old.
How fucking crazy is that?

For the longest time I though the Cigs and Alc lyrics, "When it comes on top" was a sexual reference. I only just realized that it's a Mancunian saying. I'm a proper div, innit. It is? What does it mean? I found this on yahoo answers (lol): "To understand the meaning of the phrase "When it comes on top" you first need to realise that the song was written by a Northern English band in the 1990s. At the time "When it comes on top" was a colloquialism which basically equates to "When the s!#t hits the fan", although the phrase has mostly fallen out of fashion these days. This means we can take the phrase "When it comes on top, you gotta make it happen" to mean something along the lines of when things go wrong it is down to you to turn them around. Basically you are in charge of your own destiny and can't rely on anyone but yourself to make things different." Can anyone confirm? Gotta admit being a non native english speaker those specific lyrics had never quite made much sense to me tbh

I'm not bothered either way, the main thing for me is the motivation for doing it. If they become brothers again in the proper sense and they want to get back out there and play those songs to people then I would wish them the best of luck. If it was a hollow money spinning exercise like the Stone Roses then I'm not interested.Agree with the bolded, I voted yes because I'd fucking kill for a reunion but has to be under those circumstances tbh

If this is accurate, I wonder why that version of AATW was axed? Not enough money for the second orchestra? Perhaps. Or maybe he just though (WTS)MG? didn't need it and he'd save it for album number 3. In a very early tracklist for album number 2 (Pre-Definitely Maybe) he had All Around the World as the closer. Perhaps Champagne Supernova ousted it? Alternatively, I'm not sure how serious Noel is when he said this, but maybe he was saving it for Eurovision? The audacity of this last paragraph, haha (the band's 1st single hadn't even been released yet!): Melody Maker - 9th April 1994 lol "ken mccarroll" I wonder if that was a genuine mistake or Noel/Liam taking the piss when the reporter asked their names

This is, probably what happened (merging all the different reliablish accounts together). - Whiskey A Go Go gig goes wrong (as featured in Supersonic - crystal meth is consumed). This was the 4th or 5th gig on the US tour, not the 1st, as Noel claimed in the interview. - Noel leaves the tour the next day. Goes to San Franciso. Stays with that girl (as mentioned in Supersonic).. - Nick Abbot (I may have got that wrong?) traveled to San Francisco from the UK to get Noel. From there, they went on a bit of a 'fear and loathing' esque bended in Vegas. They met a couple their, the woman said Noel looked like George Harrison. Something along those lines - Noel wrote Talk Tonight and It's Good To Be Free during that period. Both of those songs, plus Half The World Away, were recorded in Austin, where Oasis had booked studio time. I whatched the supersonic documentary only recently... I don't recall Noel claiming it was their first american gig, just him kind of "up playing" the importance of whisky a go go... Was Owen Morris touring with them at the time? He seemed to have been there going by the doco. I also re-watched the fear and loathing thing, I guess it was Tim Abbott. Apparently Melissa Lim knew him previously. I wonder if Noel is aware of to what extent she's been already identified. Everytime he talks about it he gives loose excerpts of the story, but never the complete thing. I remember some years back (maybe on the Russell Brand radio show?) he talked about the origin of the name of WTSMG even alluding to the fact that they had been calling each other for some time after that. I guess it's fair to say he does remember her, he does know her name, but doesn't want to go into ir and far less have people digging that up to its full extent. As private things go, I suppose that's fair enough. Anyway, many, many thanks to whoever Uploaded the full "once in a lifetime" thing to YouTube. We wouldn't have easy access to it anytime soon otherwise. I was under the impression that before LA they at the very least played in San Francisco, where he met the girl. So yeah, not their first gig in the states
