Just voted for the first time. 292,746 total votes is insane to me, let alone 29,312 for Peter Frampton. Who below the age of 40 (give or take) even knows who that is? Are boomers really going to this website in droves to vote on a daily basis? Smells fishy to me. Yeah it’s fishy you are right. I just looked it up and not just Frampton, other bands too, like look at number of their followers on every platform and compare to Oasis’s. No way that they are getting more votes in organic way. It’s irrelevant anyway but kinda funny While he has the advantage of like 95% of his fame being in the US, I admit his numbers are high. When the names came out, a lot of people singled him out as a “boomer nom”. As most HoF subscribers who attend the ceremony are of that era, they often have a “safe” late 60s to early 80s name, that maybe isnt the most deserving but will draw members to buy tickets. Its corrupt as hell, so they could well have upped his numbers to make it seem to members like he’ll get in. As while I feel they deserve it more, some people called out Foreigner for the same thing, given theyd not been nominated before.

I would hope that if by some miracle they were inducted they just wouldn’t show up.

I fear Uncle Liam might disagree with her….come to think of it so might her dad. Although he is the more likely of the two to attend if against all odds they got in.

In truth, one thing a mate and I were discussing when names came out was who might induct each artist if they got in. It’s typically someone already in, or another well-known celeb.
Any thoughts for who’d give Oasis’ speech?
As a lot of their friends (Marr, Weller, Squire, Coxon etc) aren’t known by name there. I guessed Johnny Depp or McCartney.

Could be Lars from Metallica. Yeah the reason i didnt suggest him was i had a feeling he was only friends with Noel. Sort of like Dave Grohl being a no due to just being a mate of Liam. I could be wrong about Lars & Liam though.

Roger Daltrey or Pete Townshend come to me as possible names.
If they were to go with an American name, then possibly Brandon Flowers.
Let's hope they get in, but I seriously doubt it. It's a huge accomplishment for them to be nominated though. For exemple, The Smiths have only been nominated twice (and last time was 2016). Blur and The Jam have never been nominated. As the Hall of Fame drifts further away from rock each passing year, it's going to be increasingly tough for rock acts to get in.

Daltrey is a really good shout yes, as he’s a close mate of Liam and on OK terms with Noel i think. While maybe not induction Blur have a chance at nomination some time down the line, especially if Oasis get in, but The Jam will never get close IMO. Weller has had one Top 40 hit there his whole career. Same will sadly go for the Stone Roses.

Fan vote over. After occupying 9th for much of it, Sinead slips ahead last minute and they finish 10th.
Ive heard the inductees are being announced on American Idol this Sunday night. Which sounds like the final confirmation they won’t be inducted. As by being on a show like that, its likely all cleaner/populist names getting in, ie Mariah, Cher, Lenny Kravitz and Ozzy.
Still, thats probably what Liam wants to hear isnt it….

The fact that it’s being announced on American Idol says a lot for its credentials.
Hopefully this is the last we have to hear about this shite. It’s taken up far too much discourse on forums and social media.

Foreginer is a band that I only knew of because of their song I want to know what love is, but suddenly they are showered with praise from everyone in the music industry like they belong there, bit weird that of all the nominated they are the only ones with that kind of press.

I like a couple of songs by Foreigner Hot Blooded and Urgent but that's about it.

I admittedly dont mind Foreigner. Urgent, Cold as Ice, Hot Blooded and Waiting For A Girl Like You are decent. Ive admittedly heard I Wanna Know What Love Is way too much now, but at the start it was pretty good.
They aren’t a bad rock band, but they often came off a tad too commercial.
