Anyone know why Noel is doing so many Italian radio interviews? Isn't this like his 3rd in a week? What's the deal, is that where he's most popular in Europe outside of the UK? It seems that they are the only one who still care. Plus they didn't qualify for WC so they have lot of free time 😁 haha true! It's gonna be a tough month I think I'll get some consolation from rewatching Euro 2020

In rock ‘n’ roll terms, Noel was definitely a late starting fogey. McCartney was 27 when the Beatles *split*. Dylan had released 8 albums by that age. Hendrix, Morrison & Cobain all had entire careers and had died by then… X He was a relatively late starter (if not as late as some), but, 27 is still young (sure, you're just a tad less invincible than 17, but you haven’t lost any major voltage) and more importantly, as mentioned, it was his first rodeo. If anything, being 27 and already having a bunch of songs written when fame hit allowed him to be even more prolific and fast-moving. He was able to take off at full speed. But the question that seems to be coming up currently is “hey, why can’t he do that again for me now, three decades later, at 55?” Which is why I asked who has done it. Not many, though it would be cool if someone could stake out a music career in reverse -- a divisive album every few years early on and then one incredible album after another between say, age 65 and 70. It's a near-impossible ask, though. The main point being that Noel hasn’t refused to spend the last 5 years making 5 albums of stone-cold classics ready to climb the newfangled charts faster than you can say Morning Glory because he’s a stingy, misanthropic, old tease (although he might be.)
Magic, like eyesight, changes as you get older. It’s not that you can’t have it, but you have to adapt to different ways of finding it. Hey don’t get me wrong. I agree I want quality over quantity from Noel. I only brought up the DM-SOTSOG thing out of amazement for that period really; of course I don’t expect him to be able to do that in his 50s. I do think he’s a massive fucking tease though. He announces an AA album but then can’t be bothered finishing mixing it. More recently, while recording his long-awaited new album, he said he’d recorded loads of covers in downtime in his studio and was considering doing a covers release. He teased us with Mind Games, but no more. He also recently played a reworked version of Live Forever and said he was considering doing an album of Oasis reworks. All of these would be easy things to release to tide us over while working on the album proper. X

That’s actually a ton of shit.

X I guess this forum does serve sometimes as the Complaints Department I’m sure if his team ever look at this forum, then they have a good laugh at it and don’t take it very seriously. But if you are reading, just stick that AA album out for RSD guys. A 4 vinyl box set version please. Oh, and all the stems digitally so we can mix, master & remaster it ourselves. Thanks. X

I think the AA would say it’s done since 2011. Noel always said he has to work on the “mixes”. Who knows the truth. I was looking forward to this album more than his debut when he announced both albums in July 2011. It’s probably shit but I still want to hear it. As I’ve said many many times over the last decade, this type of album is tailor made for Record Store Day. Low stakes. No pressure. Sales don’t matter. Reviews don’t matter. It’s the perfect time.

How finished is the AA album supposedly? I think the AA would say it’s done since 2011. Noel always said he has to work on the “mixes”. Noel said their album was really quiet. It probably just had dynamic range and he wanted to brickwall the shit out of it. That or the butler who controls the volume on his stereo was on leave that day. X

Ah I dunno, especially since the David Holmes stuff I don’t think Noel is afraid to release it because it’s too “out there” i genuinely think it must just be shit or we’d have heard bits of it.
But as Lennon says, RSD is the perfect way to release it!

Ah I dunno, especially since the David Holmes stuff I don’t think Noel is afraid to release it because it’s too “out there” i genuinely think it must just be shit or we’d have heard bits of it. But as Lennon says, RSD is the perfect way to release it! Art is subjective. It’s simplistic to just say it is probably shit. Look at the split opinions on Holy Mountain and Pretty Boy! Some people think Picasso is the greatest artist of all time. Some people think he’s shit. Some people will hate the AA album, but some of us will no doubt love it. Noel himself though it was brilliant to begin with. We’ve actually heard enough bits to guess how it could sound: Shoot A Hole, The Right Stuff, the other little snippets, Noel’s guest spots on the Cartel albums. I personally love what I’ve heard so far and want to hear the rest. It is definitely not going to be too “out there”. Gaz was fully aware this was meant to be Noel fookin’ Gallagher’s debut solo album. For example, tell me you don’t want to hear these versions of If I Had A Gun: 1. Solo / Acoustic VersionThey used vocals from Noel’s original demo as they had the most feeling. Features Gary Lucas on guitar. Cello. Grand finale: builds up with Hey Jude style drums to end with a church choir. 2. Band VersionT-Rex style drums (replacing Noel’s plodding drums). Strangeboy on guitar, sounding like My Sweet Lord. Linda Lewis backing vocals. It’s this version which was remixed into SAHITS. If you’re reading this Noel’s team, these would be a great magic secrets double A side vinyl! Nudge, nudge. Gaz thinks Noel doesn’t like having versions of his songs like this, which could compete with the official main versions. That, along with Noel being more excited about new projects, rather than dredging over the past, is probably why we’ve not heard anything yet. But I hold out hope that the album, or at least some tracks, see the light of day for RSD or an anniversary at some point. I just hope I’m not drawing a pension and have gone deaf by then! X

Nice find, thank you. There's often talk about them recording, but for whatever reason they mustn't be happy with the general quality of work, or they can't agree on it possibly. Maybe 3D doesn't like to retread on past glories, so perfectly great songs are not released because they don't add anything 'new' to their legacy. Off topic but this is one of my favourite songs of theirs, and it's locked away during the end credits of a film: http://instagram.com/p/CoaAp6GMmo6

Mad that they only included the dub remix on the Mezzanine reissue and not the original too. I also love I Against I which was frittered away on a b-side when much worse songs made it onto the 100th Window album. X Daddy G appears to be recording Ghostpoet in Air Studios! Wonder if the tune will ever see the light of day… www.instagram.com/reel/Coej-tig11o/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=X Edit: he updated the post, seems this is for a soundtrack to the Luther Netflix movie which is out later this month. So new tunage is definitely incoming!! Assuming they don’t miss the deadline 😅 Paradise Circus is the theme to the TV show, so I’m guessing they’re doing a new version of that??

Nice find Mossy, it's not being released under the Massive Attack moniker but it might as well be 😃 It was made by Daddy G & Stew Jackson, who has been his collaborator for 15 years and has appeared on MA material, so it is weird it has been released under a different name 🤷 Here’s an interview with them from 2017: www.musicradar.com/news/massive-attack-on-their-production-process-key-collaborators-and-secret-studio-weapons“On this hard drive, there are 131 tracks. On my other one, there are about another 160.” 🤢 You know, Noel doesn’t sound so bad now… Anyway, nice to see them active, even if they’re only covering themselves! Gives hope we may get new material released yet. 3D is currently on holiday though… in Ukraine. X
