This was a very nice read by the way, I wish they'd ask a bit more about what's coming next and how his new music is shaping up but I guess this is not the time

So Noel doesn't like Wonderwall or the recording of Don't Look Back In Anger honestly what next?

So Noel doesn't like Wonderwall or the recording of Don't Look Back In Anger honestly what next? I mean, I think he's allowed to have his opinion on his own stuff His perspective on it is different to ours, we judge the finished work, he knows what went behind it and what could've been done another way He's a bit of a perfectionist really, and that explains his view on the WTSMG songs I think it's the fucking best album ever, don't need Noel to agree with me

Great interview. Well worth a read.
Some of the stuff which stood out to me was Noel talking about his dance music with Mark Coyle, 'You are my Dove', his pre-Oasis songs with Pete, "If I'm being honest, I shouldn't have sung [Wonderwall or Don't Look Back in Anger] because I wasn't really a singer then", hearing some of his favourite post-WTSMG? Oasis songs, his assessment on post-WTSMG? Oasis albums, a little shout out for Amorphous Androgynous, talking about changing Oasis's sound for SOTSOG... Interesting stuff throughout. Good questions makes for good answers. Who knew?

Any thing on new stuff / timelines to new album? It’s TL;DR for me.

A couple of interesting nuggets in there, though I think Noel is a bit confused/his memory is a bit off. Setting Sun was released in October, 1996. MCFC lost to Wycombe 1-0 in November, 1998. So, he is either confusing the Setting Sun session with the recording of Let Forever Be or he is just confused about which MCFC/Wycombe match was just before it (the two teams also played in September and October, 1995 which would line up better with Setting Sun).
I also had not heard the bit about writing Champagne Supernova in the Landmark Hotel before. I'd only ever heard him tell the story about how they were listening to the Pixies and watching a show about the champagne region of France on TV at the time.

Hopefully it'll be alluding to 'Let Forever Be'. The Champagne Supernova/Pixies story also includes the bit about The Landmark Hotel (222 Marylebone Rd, London) so this new quote adds credence. This would have been late 1994.

Any good? Taken with phone. Thanks very much for the pictures! Good interview, as usual with Mojo. It's missing page 32 though, there's always a few paragraphs below the picture. If you have time could you upload a pic of it? Many thanks!

Any thing on new stuff / timelines to new album? It’s TL;DR for me. No, this monthly section of Mojo Magazine is always devoted to a retrospective interview about an artist's career, not much to talking about future projects. Noel's no exception here.

This was great. Thanks for posting. This was the most honest and reflective I've seen him. Seems almost like he is trying to be kind to Liam and Amorphous Androgynous. But more interestingly
1. He described his career arc exactly like I have thought of it. I've always felt the Importance of Being Idle was a turning point to him. I feel this is when NGHFB was sort of born. It was the best song he'd written in years, however, he really showed his vocal chops with confidence for the first time. I think this is the song that proved to himself he could go solo. I've felt his vocals 2005 and after are far superior to his 1994-2004 vocals and it was cool to see him sort of admit that.
2. I also like how he added the caveat on him being the most 'progressive' of oasis. He did restate that the others were really resistant to change and he had a more open mind. However, he also admitted that he was also at fault for not having the guts to go against the formula expected of the band AND that even if he did, he didn't wasn't as good then at writing those types of songs back then. He's basically taking some responsibility too and pointing to AA and David Holmes as brining it out of him.
It does make me think that if he had gone with David Holmes before AA, the AA project would have been more successful.

Great interview, the nod to Amorphous Androgynous was surprising I don’t think that relationship is as bad as we all make it out to be. Noel just wasn’t happy with the results for whatever reason. Noel prob shouldn’t have announced the album at his press conference. That was a mistake I guess. It made me want the AA album over his proper debut.

Hopefully some day they can reach some sort of consensus and do something with those tracks.

I think that we all want to hear the AA album and it would be great if it ever does get released but agree that both Noel and the AA need to reach some kind of agreement or something. But time will tell.
