Sorry if this has been confirmed but can't see it anywhere, is this a Noel special or is he on with other guests like a normal show? Because if it's a normal show we'll only see 3 or 4 of the songs performed, not full set. Also why wouldn't he perform 'Dead To The World'?! Madness! This actually pisses me off. He clearly said he wouldn't play it live unless he had an orchestra. Well, look at that, strings all around! Well we all know what Noel is like he says one thing and does another.

Long time lurker and former poster… was there tonight. What an absolute privilege. Going Nowhere was an amazing surprise, sounded quality with the orchestra, it’s not really a song I’ve thought too much about but got me quite emotional. Love will tear us apart was very cool, the strings did the famous synth riff. Dead in the Water I’ve always recognised as a good song but among very good company was my highlight, never connected with it like I did this evening. Just Noel acoustic and a piano. The two ones we hadn’t heard… the first one (name escapes me) had a great ‘I am the resurrection/pretty woman’ drum beat. Wasn’t as mad on the second one - again a good drum beat (supersonic esque) but felt a little light/britpoppy. Happy to be proved wrong on record! Council Skies and Pretty Boy were both very good live, start of pretty boy was a bit shaky but once it kicked in it was awesome. Found it a little bizarre he didn’t play Easy Now or in particular Dead to the World, the latter of which I would say is his best new tune by a distance. Live Forever obviously absolutely unreal, very hard not to belt out the lyrics along with him!! I can’t believe I was there, such a privilege. Was in a small theatre around the back of Ally Pally, 250 people tops. Couldn’t hear much of the interview but he told the old Keith Richards/Liam story. That’s amazing , how did you get hold of tickets for that ?

Photographer Jill furmanovski appeared on this weeks show for an interview with Jools. Furmanovski photographed oasis from around 1995 right up to the end I believe.

Stupid it’s not this weekend, would have made perfect sense and would have been a great tie-in to the album release, also would have given him a decent amount of promotion

It’s a one off special featuring all Noel so I recon it could be the series closer .

Daft question, but 'Going Nowhere' - is it the Oasis B-Side from The Masterplan or 'You Ain't Going Nowhere' from the Council Skies Deluxe version?

I don't know how these things work... but maybe Noel's management could have asked for it to coincide with the album release week? The other artists in the roster aren't huge names.

Noel's management are crap so they probably didn't think about asking the BBC to put the Noel special on this weekend.

June 10th: Jools welcomes Alison Goldfrapp, The Lathums, Eddie Chacon and John Carroll Kirby, Baba Ali and The Jordan to the show. June 17th: Featuring gospel soul trio Gabriels, Malian musician Fatoumata Diawara and her collaborator Damon Albarn, Far from Saints, Grian Chatten, soul singer Elmiene and Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri. There's only one episode left after these ones so it should be on June 24th.

To be fair the timing isn't completely stupid, there's really nothing wrong with having an hour special on the BBC a few weeks after releasing an album. What other artist gets that? Or are we now saying he should have delayed his release even further to match the BBCs schedules?
You don't throw everything you've got in release week and fall off a cliff after that. You need some publicity material further down the line to sustain interest and sales. The week of release there is plenty of publicity guaranteed from interviews etc. In 4 weeks it's all died down, noone is going to be interviewing him, so this raises interest again nicely after the initial push, when otherwise he'd struggle to get in mainstream media. Then a little after that the gigs and festivals to carry him through summer.
Equally, even Noel Gallagher can't dictate BBC schedules and has to work with them for what works for both parties. I think sometimes the assumption that anything his label does must by definition be stupid gets a bit carried away. None of Noel's peers from the 90s (Liam excepted) get the amount of publicity he does.

Yeah, it'll be on the final episode and I've just looked on BBC 2 and it doesn't say that it's on tonight.
