I remember thinking this around the time it came out as every song was amazing. Then I thought "Ahhh they must've gotten help from their producer" and this was strengthened when I heard "Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys" which suffers from being a bit under-produced (IMO) but then "Favourite Worst Nightmare" came out with a different producer and was just as good as the first album. So in conclusion, Alex Turner is amazing. Most of the songs from the Arctic Monkeys’ debut album were floating around the internet as demos for 6+ months before the album came out too... X submarine EP, Last shadow Puppets records and Tranquility as definite proof, too.

This is really sad to read, because it's clearly a jab at Liam... He never had a problem with it, he even considered writing with some artists he admires. He does have plenty of reasons to be mad at his brother but to keep throwing this random jabs on co writing songs is just embarrassing He's said similar things in the past about being disappointed to find out that Jake Bugg (remember him?) wrote with professional writers and such hits as "(look up Jake Bugg song name #1)" and "(look up Jake Bugg song name #2)" weren't ripped from his soul. Well yeah, but that's not co writing, that's NOT writing at all. It's someone doing the work for you.... Anyway it's just a weird argument, he thinks the bands should write their own songs (I'm OK with that) but they shouldnt allow co writing? I mean, there is a limit? Two, tops?

Agreed, though i dont really mind Miles Kane in that context, he pretty much disappear on those records and "Alex Tuner" himself, voice and songwriting included. Makes you wonder how much he really wrote on those records.

Noel just needs to stop talking and make a decent track because they are getting worse and worse by the minute

I remember when noels first album came out. In an interview Gem said that a few of the songs on the album Noel didn't write. Also since Be Here Now Noel has used the same brothers to help him with his songs and guitar solo's and he never gives them any credit. One used to be his drummer when the band started.

I know this has already been insinuated in this thread but I think it should be repeated that Noel himself does not refer to co-writing once in the quotes.

The basslines of Gas Panic and Go Let It Out are a lot better than your usual Oasis tunes plus the lead guitar of FITB but then two of the band had left while recording the album so it's not a big deal. I think Noel openly said Strangeboy played/wrote solos on Riverman and The Right Stuff that he couldnt replicate himself.

Paul is credited all over post 2000 Oasis albums for his engineering and guitar work. During these times he probably was the 3rd most important person in the band after Noel and Liam. Sorry Gem and Andy. That is the truth. Naturally he is all over Noel's solo career as well. He could probably have been in many bands if he wanted. I believe he likes to live in the shadows.

Can't believe I need to write this but there's a clear difference between co-writing tunes and having 6 guys writing songs for record companies that then you decide you want on your album and add some stuff to them to get a writing credit, which is clearly what Noel refers to

Yes, he was referring to songs co written by artists and studio hacks. Not just co writing with your bandmate or friend.
