Surely there’s a poll somewhere but I can’t be arsed to look for it. Anyway, it’s time for a new poll - just roll with it. Heh. WMWN, easily. It’s not even close. igotflair

Imo:
The best songs on WM?WN. are better than the best songs on As You Were.
The worst songs on WM?WN. are worse than the worst on As You Were.
The heavier songs on WM?WN. are heavier than the heaviest songs on As You Were.
The commercialised songs on WM?WN. are more commercial than those on As You Were.
Liam was more transparent about his input on As You Were, its a shame he wasn’t for WM?WN.
I didn’t hate anything on As You Were, I do hate a couple on WM?WN.
I have had to start playing As You Were again because I started to miss Bold, Greedy Soul, I’ve all I need, Come Back to me.
I’m obsessed with the track Why Me? Why not. I need to play it first every time I put my earphones in and on full gas at home on the vinyl player as soon as I get home. The River, Invisible Sun and Gone are played many times a day too.
I’m no longer playing either full album on earphones, but as vinyl players aren’t set up for easy skipping it ensures I listen to an album as a complete piece of work.
Neither are perfect. I hope the next album is worked on for much longer, and he sets aside a block of time for studio work rather than recording it in instalments over a couple of years. Even some songs had parts recorded many months apart, in different parts of the world, not sure that this gives us the best results. I also didn’t listen to any of Liams radio promo interviews this round, wasn’t that interested in hearing the same questions and the same answers as the last run all over again.
Both albums for me, right now, are 8/10
The answer, after all this reasoning - Why Me? Why Not.

Hmm... Good question Beady’s Here Now 🤔 I'm going to have to revisit AYW before answering 🧐

Both 8/10, but we'll never ever have the Liam comeback story again from 2017, the surprise, freshness and voice, so it's AYW that I take to a desert island.

To me it's close but I go wmwn because the bonus tracks are better which breaks the tie

WM?WN, easily. But AYW is a great album as well.

Blimey I really don't know. I think I prefer the production on the songs he did with the other dude on As You Were (Megueret or something?) before Warner sent him to LA, but other than that I think the songs on WMWN are slightly better in general. Both albums are solid without being artistically out of this world but I wouldn't really expect that from Liam.

Both have a great set of songs, but WMWN is a tighter record. WMWN ftw.

"As you were" is the best for me, though I like WMWN.

AYW was a fair bit better than WMWN
After downloading it digitally, I haven't even bothered taking the plastic wrapping off my WMWN CD.
I feel a bit alienated by Liam's latest music.

"As you were" is the best for me, though I like WMWN. AYW for me has more my sort of music...although WMWN is a great album. I have resorted to mixing the two up as a playlist.. which I never usually do...They both have stomping walking tunes, which for me as a real avid pavement pounder is key to my.choice at the moment.

When it comes to ranking the post-Oasis Gallagher albums, Why Me? Why Not. is down there with the Beady Eye albums for me. It’s not meritless, but it is a long way from being a genuinely good album.

Why Me? Why Not but quite some distance. It’s more varied, better produced, Liam’s more confident and simply the songs are better. It being more consistent, it just works better as a whole.

Listening to FWIW, brilliant ballad.
WMWN needed one of these.

AYW by far for me.
I was still listening to it months after release, while WMWN I don't think I'll ever revisit.

Surprised by the results tbh! I might be wrong, but I'd be surprised if a similar poll taken in five year's time had the same results.

I might be wrong, but I'd be surprised if a similar poll taken in five year's time had the same results. Why do you think that? I think there's a bit of recency bias at play here. Not even so much with people over-hyping WMWN (although I do think that's occurring), but with people forgetting what a cracking record As You Were was. When I look at them side-to-side, As You Were seems a lot more cohesive, crafted, and purposeful. It makes WMWN look like a collection of nice enough tunes rushed out to reap the market that As You Were sowed. Like I said, though, wouldn't be the first time I'd gotten an album wrong. Maybe people will still find it better than AYW in five years' time. But I certainly wouldn't put money on it.

I wasn't here at the time but apparently when DOYS, DGSS etc were released there was a lot of positivity on here? Which soon levelled out.

Listening to FWIW, brilliant ballad. WMWN needed one of these. WMWN's got it, it's called "Once"; check track 3 on the album.
