Okay, let's separate the men from the boys; those who will survive natural selection from those who will not...
Alright Now is an absolute TUNE and in my Top 3 from the album right now. Anyone with me? It's just delicious. Beautifully delivered from Liam; delicate and understated. Playing on it is tighter than...well, lets not go there, but it's tight as hell. The harmonies are sweet and the melodies are sugary bliss. Just absolutely delightful.

It's a pleasant surprise, but it's not Liam. Much like Paper Crown, I struggle to form an attachment to it when it's so obviously just words put in front of him.

Fair enough that. I'm a big fan of how different it is and think his delivery of the lyrics is on point. But of course, each to their own. Now, be gone with you, heathen

It was the most irritating thing EVER on the first listen. On the second listen it was OK. And now it's just amazing. Biggest grower.

On first play through I thought it was pretty weak but absolutely love it now. Beautiful song and a real grower. The way Liam sings "When the lights go down on broadwayyyy" is one of my favourite things on the album.

Gotta join the chorus of first time haters. First play through I immediately thought "can't wait till this song is over" but I absolutely love it now.
When the lights go down on broooooaaaaadwayyyyyyy

Oh nice, so there's a thread for this wonderful song!
Currently one of my favourites! Especially the part starting round about the 02:40 mark is so good. I love how the song fades out, such a nice melody and so lovely how Liam sings it! Fantastic!

The way Liam sings "When the lights go down on broadwayyyy" is one of my favourite things on the album. That bit is also one of my favorite parts of the whole album. It was one of my standout tracks on first listen and I love it more and more each time. It has a very cool retro sound that greatly reminds me of The Beatles.

Such a lovely song. Some of Liam's most relaxed vocals ever.

I wasn’t that bothered with this one BUT it’s grown on me and that ending when it fades out with him slowly singing ‘At times I wonder if you’re listening, now I know, at times I wonder if you hear me, now I know’ is one of my favourite parts of the album.

I didn't like on the first listen but now I love it! With the 320 album it's even better!

Not having it yet. Don’t dislike it and not really given it a chance yet, a little bit addicted to a few of the others. It’ll get a look in soon.

It was written by an American wasn't it?
"Under billboard lights..." "When the lights go down on Broadway..."
This is a good example of generic lyrics that mean as little to Liam as they do to us. Not feeling this one at all.

Why come into an appreciation thread to criticize and say you don't like the song? Weird.

Why come into an appreciation thread to criticize and say you don't like the song? Weird. Unfortunately it's typical for this forum. I loved Alright Now immediately, one of my favorites (and I have many) on the album.

Oddly I could hear this song being done more in the vein of Fade Away. Don’t know why. But it somehow reminds me of fade away

It's a pleasant surprise, but it's not Liam. Much like Paper Crown, I struggle to form an attachment to it when it's so obviously just words put in front of him. I think we're past that point. Either you get on the Liam-collaborating-with-other-songwriters train or you don't. It's getting old.

After spending 24hrs with this album, this has become my favorite song. It’s just so catchy and recorded beautifully.

Either you get on the Liam-collaborating-with-other-songwriters train or you don't. It's getting old. You've missed my point completely. There's a difference between songs that sound like they're written for Liam (The River; One of Us) and songs that don't (Alright Now; Glimmer). I find the latter jarring and weird.
