I’m kind of perplexed at a lot of you. Do you think Noel is *actually* sitting around being a miserable c*nt with these interviews? He honestly does not sound like he takes himself or any of this stuff too seriously...people ask him questions, and he answers them honestly, albeit with some exaggerated effect.
I don’t get the opinion that any of this shit affects him at all on an emotional level. Hell, he even said that he absolutely loves the kind of music he’s making now, it seems to bring him a lot of joy.
All the stuff about Capaldi, Taylor Swift, the state of modern guitar music are just throwaway comments. He doesn’t actually care about any of that stuff. The only true genuine vitriol in that entire interview is the stuff about Liam.

What is this dudes deal? How can he be so fucking miserable? He’s written some great tunes in the past and is rich as hell and he’s flat out miserable. Dude needs to get on some Prozac or weed stat. Lighten up. Talkin shit on Taylor Swift? Weren’t u just giving out to Liam for picking on women? Say what you want at least swift writes her own tunes. They must have some substance bc Ryan Adams made them sound great. Also how about showing the pumpkins a bit of gratitude for bringing you out on the road. Dude acts like he’s above them or some shit. Check it kid, ur the opening act. You can’t sell out an amphitheater by ur self. That’s facts fella. Ur a 1500-3000 seat theater act here in the USA nowadays. Get a grip on reality. Stop trying to blow bono in every interview. Ur dance phase or whatever is shit. Write some proper tunes on a guitar. You wrote some Smith’s inspired tunes huh? Trust me, no you fuckin didn’t. Guy says he’s not trying to dress like a 19 year old? Who were those fuckin nerds he was rap rockin with in the black jacket a few months ago. He’s 52 and playing back up for a shit linken Park. This dude is bitter as fuck for like no reason. Don’t people usually mellow w age? I’m Noel, get off my lawn kids grrrrrrrrrrr. This fuckin guy. spot on

How dare Noel react after ten years of literally daily insults every time the other bloke opens his mouth, introduces a song, or picks up his phone!? What a bitter old man! It's getting boring now! Noel needs to let it drop! Or he can get the other guy to cut it out by sorting it out face to face. But he doesnt.

He's a naughty bugger for leaning on that Liam-is-a-misogynist angle. What does he care about sexism? He didn't even know what a feminist was two years ago.
Calling Liam overweight, slagging his voice and his songs off, that's neither here nor there. It's just silly, schoolyard trash talk. But "filthy little misogynist sexist" is a very serious accusation to make in the current climate. It always should be, of course, but, with the sensitivity around gender--and particularly men behaving badly--there is at the moment, coupled with the cancel culture where people can get blacklisted for one false move, he could do Liam serious damage with this. I doubt he will, but you have to wonder about his intentions. Seems like defamation of character to me. He's always done that with Liam to an extent--see "I can't drive and he can't tell the time," "he's a man with a fork in a world of soup," and so on--but this is so much more spiteful.

It seems to me that for the first handful of years Noel was out solo he took it pretty easy on Liam publicly. It wasn't until Liam started really going after Noel on Twitter, his looks (potato), his music (Leo Sayer), his family (Anais and Sara), and all while having his bags packed for a reunion, when Noel finally had enough. I'm sure Noel was just trying to stay quiet and move on, but Liam has finally poked him long and hard enough to get through his skin. Now he's going to get asked about it more and we're going to get answers like this. If the gloves weren't off already, they are now.
I feel like we're finally seeing Noel stand up for himself. On the other hand, a more mature person with thicker skin probably still ignores it. But how long can someone stand idly by while an estranged family member talks shit about you?
Whether you're on one side or the other you can say definitively that at the least both of them haven't been completely innocent here.
Side note: doesn't this sound like the old Noel? I feel like I haven't heard him slag people off like this since the 90's.

You make really good points here and for me, this is the most startling contrast between Noel on Liam now vs before. He is genuinely out to ruin his career now. No doubt. Before, sure they both got personal in one way or another and said certain things. But going at him from the sexist, abuser angle means he wants to try and ruin what he has started to achieve. I remember on the voice thing - someone on here made a good comparison once when they asked why Noel never mentioned Liams declining vocals. It was compared to how you might knock your mates Jumper down the pub but never the fact he's fat or losing his hair (ironically both things Noel has also digged at Liam over). If we really needed any further indication it's gone past the point of no repair, this is it.

I don't understand Liam's strategy. He wanted Oasis back together and more recently Oasis songs in his film. Thats not gonna happen with all the nasty fighting on social media and in interviews. Driving a bigger wedge than prior.

The reason he didn't go in on him is because Beady Eye weren't doing very well. It's all VERY different now Liam is bigger than Noel.

My comments about Noel being miserable were just in relation to the Capaldi stuff. It’d all her in good humour so far and those comments seem a bit nasty
The Liam stuff. I don’t really care either way. Noel has every right to feel that way because Liam doesn’t help himself. He says one thing and does another. AIW did feature plenty of Noel digs. Why should Noel have allowed the music in?
I’m not saying it wasn’t an arsey move, but he had every right. I don’t think he’s out to ruin Liam’s career any more than Liam would like to see Noel flop. I just think the Capaldi stuff was a bit much, cause it’d had all seemed rather a bit of fun before that.

Who on earth would carry on going in on the lad over the most light hearted and genuinely funny banter thats been thrown at him. And back to our discussion about the difference in reaction to Noel's interviews now, this thread is a perfect example for you.

Yeah, Liam is smart enough to link a quote from 25 years ago to a disease that is more transmittable between homosexuals in a month celebrating homosexuality. How lucky he was that Noel just happened to say what he did in the exact same month.

Noel - "My wife was there and she said, “All you could hear was people chanting your name. It was unbelievable"
Anyone gonna break it to them that it was Liam they were chanting for?
Bless.
