That’s the thing about this song. I think initially for most, it sounds like another angry Liam stomper/plodder with snarl. A lot like a Man of Misery type. And for me, I don’t like when Liam puts that out. I like the Once type songs cause to me that is where Liam shiiiyiiines the most. Its vintage Liam. Initially I was meh on this song. But the difference with this song is that it actually has hooks and is catchy as fuck with awesome guitars. Give it time and a good set of speakers.

The lyrics are a bit cringeworthy, but I love it when Liam sings “I’ve waited so long for you down by the riverrrrr”. His voice sounds epic,
Also this sounds mean:

Just heard this for the first time. Late to the party I know.
Anyone else spot the Dune reference? Never had Liam down as a Lynch or Herbert fan!

X Oh that's funny, I just started reading Dune recently and I wouldn't have expected to see a reference to it in a Liam song either ^^ Didn't saw it at first as I'm reading it in french, now I will picture Liam as Paul, I like the idea I'm not sure that it's coming from Liam though, really didn't seemed to me that he's into SF or stuff like that and also not a big reader so I would think that it's coming from the co-writers, but who knows, Liam can be full of suprises ^^

I love this track. Almost wish the drums were a bit more pounding or heavy if you know what I mean.

I love this so much more in the context of the album, there is a lot more pop based tunes and experimental stuff then it just makes The River sound absolutely massive.

Upgraded from 6 to an 8. Top notch.
It’s Ian Brown’s Keep What You Got, which was originally written by Noel. Mind fuck or what?

The thing about this song is how great it stands up live. Perfect for Liam.

I was pretty much “meh” about it when it was first released as a single. But when it follows Meadow it just smashes its way out the speakers and into your head. Find myself humming and singing it to myself all the time now, I actually think it’s grown into my favourite song on the album!

Yeah, this one a grower - I love it.
The prize fighter part - hairs on back of neck stand up!

Does anyone know the chords to the verses? The way the band play it. Not the capo on 3rd fret version
Thanks

Wish the production was a little heavier. The live version is an absolute monster! Can’t stand the snare drum sound on the Album, really irritates me

What makes that sound at the very beginning of the song? Is it just dead notes on the guitar ?
