By Henry Holloway11.06, 11 Jun 2019 UPDATED 12.06, 11 Jun 2019 Rock legend Liam was speaking to Matt Wilkinson on Beats One when he dropped the bombshell. The 46-year-old was asked in a fan-submitted question if there existed a studio version of him singing Oasis classic Don’t Look Back in Anger from 1995. Oasis’s second biggest track after Wonderwall, it was the first song recorded for an album sung by Noel – setting a trend for later Oaiss albums. While admitting he couldn’t remember recording a version of the mega-hit, Liam was open to the idea a demo might exist. Boasting if it was released it would “still be number one now” – the Oasis frontman said he reckons Noel would be keeping a secret copy of the demo. The Gallagher brothers remain at war since the volatile split of Oasis in 2009 – both since having solo careers. It is alleged the singer had recorded a demo version of the track back in 1995. He has since once performed it live with an emotional a cappella version at Glastonbury in 2017. And when quizzed, Liam was unsure if he would ever sing it again, saying he was happy to leave it as a one time "special" performance. But I remember it being a toss up between the two – that or Wonderwall. “I should have sang it because I am the singer.” He added: “I don’t remember singing it. But if there was a version of me singing it it would have been mega. “We would have gone with it and it would still be number one now.” [https://cdn-images-dailystar-co-uk] HIGH FLYING BIRD: Noel Gallagher has gone solo and is working on his fourth album (Pic: GETTY) Liam then mused there can’t exist a version because it would have been too good to keep quiet. “I know for a fact I would have nailed it,” he said. He then concluded that if there was a version Noel must have a copy of it and would be keeping it under lock and key. The Oasis star revealed earlier this week he tried to “snort his own skin” as he appeared in documentary As It Was. RELATED ARTICLES

LOL I just wrote about Step Out in another thread, no way Noel would ever allow Liam to upstage him on "his" songs IE the ones that were originally released with a NG vocal.

...I'm curious... why does LG not have any access to the oasis vault? I don't think Noel or Liam have access to any of the multitrack outtakes of the studio recordings for those first three Oasis albums. Nearly all the studio outtakes (and there were very few) on the Chasing The Sun reissues were probably lifted from tapes and CDRs that the band had kept. My guess is that they either couldn't afford access to the original studio session tapes or they can't be found or they were junked.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Noel once said he was gonna sing either Wonderwall or DLBIA, and made Liam choose.

Noël's vocal on DLBIA is perfect, particularly the chorus........... both of them singing lead vocals on iconic songs helped make Oasís even more special.
God bless.

Great article but why not a whole book on things Liam doesn’t remember... That would have to broken down into an "encyclopedia" format by years.

It's possible Liam and Noel got wasted one weekend and recorded cover versions of every Beatles song over the course of two days.
Neither they nor anybody else can remember them doing this but it would make a great box set if it actually happened.
Can somebody contact Noel or Liam for a quote? I'm setting up a petition to have this released.

Of course there are more "demos" out there unreleased. There are always more.
It's hardly news though.

I miss the old electric led version of DLBIA. Tired of the way Noel’s been playing it the last 11 years.

True but it's not farfetched to say that if a multitrack version of Step Out or DLBIA exist, Noel probably does not want to give Liam any glory by releasing them. Granted, I wouldn't blame him with all of the mudslinging LG has done.
And as great as Noel is in his own right, could he really compete with a focused, young LG vocal ?
They would be compared unfairly.

He could have them released as "Liam Demos" on a special CD, rake in the cash, and put to bed any rumours that he's the one holding those demos back from release. If Liam then stops their release, then it becomes a Liam thing and no longer a NG thing.

Why would Liam stop there release, judging from Noe's actions I don' think Liam could stop them if he wanted to.

That's just a guess, mind you.

With the crap they fling at each other it's not farfetched that NG would keep as many Liam vocals "in the sock drawer" as possible.

I miss the old electric led version of DLBIA. Tired of the way Noel’s been playing it the last 11 years. Actually he used to play the old electric version on HFB and CY tours. His first ever HFB gig in Dublin was with the acoustic version, but the rest of the tour was the electric version, as well the CY tour too. And I couldn't agree more, I don't even care for DLBIA on the current gigs.

Electric guitar intro.
