Reminds me of Back After The Break and Off At The Next Exit which were both highlights from the Beady Eye era. I'm encouraged by what I've heard so far. I was thinking the same thing. I am wondering if maybe Once is an old song that Liam recorded and has been reworked.

First time poster and by the sounds of it gonna be the lone voice of dissent ☹️
The lyrics are pretty jarring I would definitely say he’s wrote this one himself on that basis.
‘Daydream’ and ‘shine’ are in there and the glass of wine line makes me squirm a bit if I’m being honest.
Nice melody just disappointed with the lyrics for such a hyped song.
FWIW is miles ahead in my opinion.
I’m enjoying Shockwave though it’s class

I think the lyrics are wonderful personally. Liam is never going to be someone like morrissey and he doesnt need to be.
but all i remember is how we used to shine back then you went down so easy like a glass of wine, my friend when the dawn came down you felt so inspired to do it gain but it turns out you only get to do it once
does the job for me.
my biggest problem with FWIW was the production style they chose on it, was just abit too retro for my taste where as once sounds nice and fresh. I think some of the lines in FWIW are much cheesier than this.

He’s evaluating a song he’s heard a good chunk of, not an album he’d heard nothing of.

Fair play it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing 😂 I’m far from discounting him as a song writer though as I think he’s penned some great tunes with BE and as a solo artist.

You see, that's what i hate 21 century for. If it was in the 90's you would just heard that there was this film and there was a great new song played in it. Now we gonna listen to that 20 sec long ripped snippet for a few months like a bunch of morons before the real thing comes out.

kept thinking the song reminded me of something and then I remembered start anew. Just the same kind of theme running through it in the background.

So did Liam exaggerate when he said all the songs on the new album are co-written, or will this not be on the album... Charlie Lightening mentioned Once will be on the second album IIRC.

From the studio clip. I think it's played with a Capo 4th: Verses: D - Bm - A - G Chorus: G - D - A "but it turns out...": Em - D/F# - G "you only get to do it once...": D - Bm - D - Bm - A - D I was wrong. The chords for the verses are: D - Bm - F#m - Em Rest is the same

Can’t judge this one too much as it’s just a short segment of the whole song but I like the words and the half rhymes in it. Sounds very personal. I must admit I’m one that wanted the punkier album he was going on about making but anyhow, I’m happy with what I’ve heard so far. Hope he does make a punk album one day tho. Just tearing it up from beginning to end. 10 short uptempo, under produced belters, guitars up full. Can’t be that hard hahahaha

This song (or at least the preview) seems to hit that gorgeous, fine line right between melancholic and uplifting, that Noel has achieved so many times with his more 'ballad-y' songs.
Man this is going to be a good album, isn't it.

I'm gonna go slightly off topic, but Off At The Next Exit is an absolute gem. As time passes by it's probably the Beady Eye song I feel most inclined to go back to over and over again. I love it, though it always reminds me of a Blur song. The chords are very Graham Coxon. It's a Gem song, right?

I'd be VERY surprised if Andrew Wyatt wasn't involved with this one.

Well, you would think so, but then again if you think about it you have: Bold, I'm Outta Time, Morning Son,Boy With The Blues, Flick Of The Finger, When I'm In Need, Greedy Soul, Songbird... Those are all very well penned songs written by Liam in about last decade so he has his moments.

In the credits to ”As it was”, it says that he wrote it entirely by himself. For all the other songs used from ”As your were” and the new album, it says Liam Gallagher + any names of the other co-writers. But for ”Once”, the only name included is Liam’s. So it seems that he wrote ”Once” completely by himself.
