Surprised we haven’t done this poll yet.
The debate reminds me of the 1998 baseball season with Mark McGuire vs. Sammy Sosa.
In any case, it’s amazing how C. Ronaldo developed into a beast after he left Man Utd. But that being said, Messi gets my vote and it isn’t even close.

Messi, of course.
Penaldo, lol.
But the one that had the potential to be a legend is...

messi is blessed with unbelievable talent but there are very few players with the work ethic of CR7. no one gets my vote, they're equal.

I guess it says pretty much when Ronaldo is considered to have a much worse personality than a big time tax evader with a personality blander than Coldplay. But on footballing merits only, definitely Messi.

I don´t like Ronaldo as a person and I prefer to watch Messi play but football is sport, not art. I think that Ronaldo is more capable to bring result to his team. Messi is playing in one club his entire career, in one perfectly organised system. His performance for national was embarrassing (ofc not embarrassing compared to 99.999999% other players but embarrassing for one player who is considered by some people to be the GOAT). It´s like Curry vs LeBron, although I prefer to watch Curry play, I have to admit that LeBron is better.

Maybe Zlatan could be closest to Kanye West in the footballing world?

Since I only really like one Kanye song, I guess I would have to agree.

Ronaldo
Not a fan but his skills and physique are amazing. For example, his last bicycle kick was 2.4m above the ground!

If I had to pick a favorite footballer based on both his footballing skills and personality, I think I would pick Diego Costa. Not despite he is a comic book villain, but BECAUSE he is a comic book villain, in a way that is the perfect mixture of craziness and charm. He plays the part so well, and it's not like he has any problems playing some high quality football at the same time.

I would love to see Messi leave Barca and go to the Premier League.
He would be great at City.

messi is the better overall footballer, but ronaldo could be the greatest goal scorer we've seen. wouldve been interesting if ronaldo stayed a midfielder, but as it stands, messi gets my vote by quite a distance.
reminds of me lebron vs jordan. one looks so natural, like he was born with a ball in his hands, the other looks like hes a machine thats been designed to play the game.

It makes me literally sick that I have to watch him twice when Arsenal face Atletico Madrid in the Europa League. I hate the fucker with a passion.

I think Ronaldo has the physique to stay on top level (okay maybe not the absolute) till he's like 40. He's a fucking athlete and will become a pure target striker in the later years.

Messi, of course. Penaldo, lol. But the one that had the potential to be a legend is... In his prime, at his best, Ronaldinho was better than either Messi or Cristiano, both won many more titles and broke many records, but neither had such skills that Ronaldinho used to have, I mean, name another player with such outstanding individual skills like him, Ronaldinho just humiliate defenders like no any other. Watch it all, 20 minutes of pure enterteinment.
