“Three Lions” by Baddiel and Skinner should be played instead of “God Save the Queen” at the beginning of tomorrow’s Semi Final between England and Croatia. It’s coming home. they should play god save the Queen by the sex pistols. That'd get the blood pumping.

we see the game differently i think. i have watched england over the last 25 years and even at this tournament, theyre still playing the same old boring, predictable, long-ball/crosses that they always have. when they do try and play proper football, it makes them look even worse than they are. if there has been improvement, its insubstantial... Utter nonsense. You haven't been watching at all or you are consumed by your own bias. England have been cutting the long ball stuff right down, we have been playing from the back on the floor for the first time I remember. Playing long ball football is not the same as crossing. Southgate has actively been trying to change the style since he took over, its starting to take shape. whenever i see england play on the floor, they suck. i realise long balls and crosses arent the same thing, but its all part of the same basic style. theres no crisp passing around the box or down the middle (or at least very little). and no patience with the ball which leads to the majority of play being long balls or pushing it out to the wings and crossing it in. very simple and boring. as possible as it is for me to be clouded by bias (and its possible), isnt it just as possible for england fans to be looking at things through rose tinted shades...?

sorry about that...but arent you guys all the same anyway? i get your point about a good team not needing to be full of good players, but my point was that this current squad isnt a good team. theyre average at best. making the semi's has little to do with how 'good' the team is and alot to do with who theyve had to play. just my opinions obviously... I think you said Sweden making the final would be the most logical outcome... i stand by that. something being logical doesnt mean its a certainty... didnt i also say england have a great chance to make the final? and i also thought it logical france would be there. i think i got the harder side of the bracket correct. didnt you say england wouldnt get past colombia?

England’s Semi-Final of Euro ‘96 went on to become the ‘Golden Generation.’ Are we on the same brink this evening?
Is the stagnation of 2008 to 2018 been finally put to bed?

I don't think this team are ever gonna be a staple for semi-finals or anything, but I think they'll avoid the embarrassment of Euro 16 and the like. I don't expect trophies from England ever, even if we had Messi and Ronaldo up front - it's England. What I enjoy about this team and manager is that for the first time in my life, I like them. I want them to win, I like all the lads and enjoy watching them play. That's enough for me, to be honest, although the good results at the moment are certainly a welcome bonus.

I'd rather a close, exciting, match filled with controversial decisions. I'd love it to go to penalties (only for England to win, of course). I'd much prefer that than an easy 3-0 win to England.

Hmmmmm... I don't think many England supporters would agree with you. I'd take the stress free result tbh.

That thing needs to go whatever. It's been said before but 'Jersualem' should be the national anthem. It makes me cringe no end when, during a game, the camera'll pan to a bunch a fat, bald blokes with their arms aloft, singing their little hearts out for some miserable old dear who lives in a castle. Embarrassing.

I want to feel every emotion, which is one of the reasons this sport is incredible. Maybe this is due to me watching Arsenal's ridiculousness over the last decade lol

I'm going to say this right now:
There is no significance to Croatia playing two consectuive match that went into extra time and then penalties. Any tiredness will not be noticed. This is always the case - pundits and fans alike speculate about how one team may be weakened by tiredness due to their schedule. They never are, and it's normally counter-intuitive.

Also:
Our route to the Semi-Final was of course easier than anyone would have thought. But we still comprehensively beat Tunisia and Panama when in recent past we have struggled against the lesser teams (Costa Rica in 2014, Iceland in 2016). We then stood up to the utter thuggery of Colombia, and kept our nerve when they scored their late equalizer and what's more won on penalties (despite falling behind). In the Quarters we had a professional performance against Sweden, who are no mugs themselves.
Today, we will be tested. But succeed or fail, the lads deserved to reach the Semis.

If I'm watching Finland playing an important game I want them to win easily because the stress is so big. I lost a night's sleep in the recent WC quals when Iceland won with a 90min goal which was 100% error from the referee and it wasn't fun. If I'm watching a team that I don't care that much about then I'd prefer seeing an exciting match. I guess England isn't THAT important to you after all.

I don't care if its the boring game ever if we could win comfortable. I'm a nervouse wreck now, Croatia are a good a team.

I'm very nervous, though.
The first 45 minutes against Tunisia is the best I've seen us play. We need to replicate that high tempo, otherwise Croatia will pass us off the park and cut through us easily.

Crotia's fitness is one thing that will help England. Playing 120 minutes isn't normal for footballers and those last minutes wore them out. They haven't fully recovered yet I'd imagine.

We're on our way, we're on our way. We're going to the final, we're on our way. How we get there, we don't know. How we get there, we don't care. All I know is we are on our way.
