Next Saturday I'm going to the test run Download festival at Flemington racecourse. Am I weird for going by myself?

There's nothing weird about going to places alone as long as you're comfortable with it. I went to Amsterdam alone, I'm going to Finsbury alone and I'm going to TRNSMT alone

Why does it have to be weird? You go to a festival/gig to enjoy and for yourself, not for anybody else!

Everyone loses each other at festivals and gigs anyway, so it doesn't make it a difference. People are too smashed at those places to notice anything let alone if someone's by themself innit

I've never been to a festival..my ex wanted to take me to Glastanbury but I don't think i would have coped in that out door enviroment..the rain..camping. Then he told me about people peeing in cups n lobbing it...i was horrified at the very thought and it put me right orrff.
But is it weird to go by yourself? Absolutely not if ur happy to do so. I"m sure you will meet like minded folks(obv at a fest) and can tag along with them if u wanted. Oh to add. I saw Bowie back in the day at the Bowl MK.in the 80's...all very civilised and only there a few hours..so no camping or piddle lobbing!

Speaking of lobbing...Sydney Slayer fanboys lose it over Tom's health, poor Haugy (Andrew Haug):

Absolutely nothing wrong with going to a gig or a festival on your own. It's often quite liberating to be free of any sense of self-consciousness in front of people you know and just absorb the music.

Los Campesinos in 2009 was the first ever gig I went to by myself, and it was the best gig I’ve been to, bar none. Great bit of fun.
After that, I also went to see both Kasabian and The Wombats, along with the second time I saw Beady Eye, by myself. I originally thought going to gigs alone would be awkward but you chat to others around you and still are able to have a laff.
