I yearn for the days when the biggest scandals involving the president were when he wore a tan suit and ate dijon mustard. To be fair, the whole "Bush and Obama repeatedly bombing innocent children to death" thing should have been an international scandal that put them both in jail, but liberals don't care about war crimes if the person committing them tells good jokes.

If Trump was slim, young, and gave nice speeches, centrist liberals wouldn't have a problem with him.

I can't speak for anyone else, but in my case, go back to any political post before 2009 and see what I thought of George W. Bush and his administration as it was happening.

I think this is on par with some of Beady's comments, to be honest. That's what I'm saying. If he simply did a better job at hiding those aspects of his administration, like Obama did, he wouldn't be facing nearly as much opposition. As long as people like Obama are viewed as the good guys, centrist liberal opposition to Trump is based largely in aesthetics. Trump is a vile human being, and it's obvious. Obama was a vile human being, but had the aesthetics of civility. Most liberals detesting of Trump comes from the lack of that appearance. It's about the aesthetics of the individual, not the morals of their systems. Do they dislike Trump for valid reasons? Absolutely. Do they apply those same reasons to the systemic actions of those who aren't outward in their vileness? Absolutely not. Centrists would have been a better word than liberals, though. Some liberals do hate Obama too, and recognise that George W. Bush is, Trump's climate change denial aside, easily the worst and most destructive president of the 21st Century. That's great. You see more of it every day. But there's still an awful lot of Ellens out there, too, and they are part of the problem.

"It's about the aesthetics of the individual, not the morals of their systems" Pretty much sums it up. That's how a joke cracking murderer like W Bush can get help being washed clean on prime time TV shows(Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel when he got the chance to show off his painting skills), and how a humanist like Bernie Sanders can be detested by almost the entire mainstream news media for his occasional grumpiness and justified anger.

Let's also understand that the massive media backlash against Trump has less to do with his horrendous policies, and more to do with the fact that he has insulted every major news network, and personally insulted probably every single news anchor on more than one occasion. It's similair to how the Democratic leadership tend to shut the fuck up when Trump is at his most fucked up behavior, but then when he suddenly goes after their buddy Joe Biden, THEN it has gone too far. It has to be personal for things to really matter.

It's been absolutely constant coverage of his shit, because his shit is absolutely endless.

It's been absolutely constant coverage of his shit, because his shit is absolutely endless. I was referring to the Democratic leadership. There are so many issues with Trump where they should oppose him loudly and agressively but just don't. They don't go after him enough on what he does, but on how he does it. That's not a good strategy, and an example of that is the way that their response to Trump's Biden attacks has been "how dare you?", when it should be "you want to talk about corruption? Ok, let me just read out loud all of the corruption you've been involved in..."
