Seems like a lot of people have noticed a change since the short break they had recently. A few thoughts:
- Jay is now using a Les Paul on some songs where he'd previously been using a Mustang or Jaguar (might've been a Jazzmaster), which is probably thickening up the sound a bit - Mike now seems to be very much the lead guitarist (thank fuck) - The band is trying to be very true to the original recordings. It's particularly evident on Supersonic and Cigarettes and Alcohol - they're playing all the extra riffs that Noel ignored towards the end of Oasis (compare versions of Supersonic from 2000 and 2008 for the best example of this)

Also, they dropped DYKWIM? so I don't have to hear Jay butcher the solo repeatedly. Really like what they have going on right now....

They improved since their start, but they're still too thin as regards the sound, nowhere near to the original wall of sound we used to appreciate. I think this has to do with the fact they don't use the original gear (now they're starting to adhere to the original gear more, as AKA said). As for tonight's gig, Rockin' Chair had great vocals by Liam, but it's not acceptable that professional musicians paid to do that let us hear a guitar part with no reverb/delay and with the guitar out of tune as well. Amateurish.

They have been improving since the start and have come on really well since mid/late summer. Pretty tight now.

Pleased for them, imo they've had way too much stick for a band that have only just started playing together really. People really expected them to sound as good as classic Oasis after a few weeks rehearsals. They are a talented band and I think will continue to improve the longer they stay together.

I think on Some Might Say and Supersonic they sound every bit as good as the original Oasis.
Loved the drums starting early for the encore then the riff starting for supersonic. Touches like that, and like pointed out above with the little guitar parts at the end, give the performances so much more soul. I was actually let down a bit by BHN songs, even though id wanted to hear them all my life, because it genuinely just felt like a session band going through the motions and it sounded a bit empty at times. Now they're sounding bang on and its looking good for the tour.

I hope DYKWIM comes back for BHN. Much better song imo. Liam seems to love Be Here Now though so I'm not sure if it's gonna be a fixture in the set list.

They sound fucking great now. What's more is they've always been consistent on Liam's solo material.

DYKWIM is a better song, but I really like how they play BHN live and it was the first Oasis song they really nailed. I think it's gonna stay the whole tour.

First of all, I have to admit that I know absolutely nothing about the technical aspects of music and concerts.. so, how does the sound engineering work? Do they have a set person for the tour or is that left up to the venue? This seems to be very inconsistent so far.

People have to realise it takes practice and time to gel as a band and it's seems they now are after being on the road..jay aint the best guitarist but the rest of the band are quality and seems they trying to replicate album sounds ,some might say Is played better than when oasis last played it..as for sound mixing that's the soundboard guy and the BBC have there own

The band is ok, they do the job and even look good. But I don't think they enjoy it, they look like they're just working like studio musicians. Even Gem and Andy (wich weren't specially expresive) looked like they were having a good time sometimes.

I’ve only seen them once so far - at the Barrowlands. Thought the band were decent but still “Oasis-lite”.
But see when Bonehead came on and played the first couple of chords of Be Here Now, that’s when I thought - now that’s the Oasis sound right there.
Hopefully he plays with them again at the Hydro!

Liam said in an interview that he's grown fond of them and feels lucky to have them. I feel especially for Liam that's important. Sorry, there are so many, no idea which one it was!

Yes, pretty much this. I think Mike does a good job, not in Noel or Gem's league but he knows what he's doing, Drew is great, the drummer has improved a lot which I think is him down to being a multi-instrumentalist rather than a natural live drummer and learning on the job, but Jay seems to still fuck up a lot for someone who has been doing this for years.

I don't think Liam knows a lot about playing and technical stuff, but it's definitely a good thing that he feels comfortable and good around them. I still think they're not great, but I have noticed some improvement. Also, they've been rehearsing for months now together, plus they are professional musicians so yes, I do think they SHOULD sound good.

Maybe they are tired of all the traveling the last couple of days, as they are not used to it. The only one who seems to be having fun is Jay. It sounds fine, but it shows the band lacks passion.

The problem for me is that the other guitarist (not Jay, although he’s definitely not any better) just looks so nervous the whole time he’s on stage!
He’s constantly checking the controls on his guitar, his finger placement on the fret board before his parts start, his pedal settings etc...
His hands were even visibly shaking when he played the Rocking Chair solo last night.
