It does make me smile people comparing it to Real Love and Tender like that's a bad thing 😅 Exactly. A complete rip off of two great songs but its somehow shit?

This is the best song on the album. I don't think Liam has written a song that has more embodied Lennon. The melody is perfect and the build up to the outro leaves nothing wanted. Once Universal Gleam came on during the first album listen everyone in the room went quiet. This song is a trip. It sets a mood. Best Liam tune.

I like pretty much everything about this tune except for "doOooOoOoOoOwn"

Loved it since the first time I heard it live at The Ritz. It doesn't really go anywhere and it isn't going to please the people looking for a massive chorus in every song but it just flows brilliantly, the melody is fantastic and the "I'm gonna make you mine, bring it on home" part is one of my highlights of the album. Great song. Exactly. Same here. Also I d love to hear Liam performing that track and in the end to start singing "tender" parts. Imagine the reactions... N the beauty of that moment. Somehow, even if people mention (for obvious reasons) tender by blur, UG sounds also like a SPIRITUALIZED tune

Cool title, nice song. Don't know why some people call it a 'Tender rip-off'.

Cool title, nice song. Don't know why some people call it a 'Tender rip-off'. Probably the same people who think Holy Mountain is a Ricky Martin cover

Same first line with Real Love but not a rip off, it's mostly because of the chord sequence. it goes totally somewhere else after the first melody line. Millions of songs have at least one same melody line in common. Dont be daft. no relation whatsoever to Tender, WTF.

I think several people have missed the topic of the thread.
It is in the same vein as Let's All Make Believe, Real Love and Just Getting Older, which in truth are all superior. It is not the strongest song in history, but, like most things on the album, Liam sounds great and the instrumentation and melody are strong. As You Were is plagued by cringe-worthy lyrics and Universal Gleam is kind of lovely. I think it is the most Beady Eye tune and I wonder if it is a holdover. It's my fourth favorite track on the record.

Hated the live version when I listened to it months ago - it sounded too slow, too BDI.
But it's stronger on the album, and develops into a decent swan song, only to be trumped as a closer by I've All I Need.
