But Chinatown isn't a "single" per se. It's just a track they released. They'll probably do the same this month with Greedy Soul. Agree with you though that the strategy wasn't the best. Album should've come out mid August or early Sept IMO. It's 2017 - if you can stream it, it's a single. I know, I know, and I agree with both of you – I'm not talking from my point of view. It's just that it wasn't released or promoted as a "single", as Liam's management clearly want to differentiate what is and what isn't one.

I think the release of this album has been terribly planned out. The hype has died down comparing to a couple months ago. Chinatown should NOT of been released as a single. It's too laid back and slowed down the hype train. It's a good album track but that's about it. Shoulda went: 'Wall Of Glass'.... 4 weeks later 'For What It's Worth' (with proper video)... 3-4 weeks later 'As You Were' album with the "live" versions from Air Studios for extra promo. 'For What It's Worth' would've done a lot better as a second single. I think the main issue for them with the album release, is that they probably didn't know what a Liam Gallagher audience would look like. I think the plan was always for him to do festivals and sort of rebuild and rebrand his image. I think they wanted time to do that and they wanted time to gauge his audience and see what type of solo venues he could fill. The idea being that he'd be debuting with a new album after a successful festival tour and, hopefully, with sold out solo tour slots in the UK. I don't think it was a bad plan, tbh. He's had a fairly successful festival run, with the exception of Lolla, he's had one high chart topping song, and he'll most likely net a #1 album. So far so good. The major question is what they'll do after the album release.

Management would know his audience size by now wouldn't they? The album should be dropping right about now or in the last week or so. I'm convinced FWIW would've done really well if it'd been released closer to 'Wall of Glass's success and that would only bode well/ better for album sales.

Chinatown was a bad decision. Yea, it wasn't officially a official single, but it got a video and radio time. That makes it a single, and just an okay single, and it did stall the momentum of the album.

You guys keep saying Warner should've released the record a month ago but there's one thing you're missing: it seems the album was finished just a couple of weeks ago, remastered by the same guy who worked with Royal Blood.

Then it should definitely be the next single. Liam should release at least one of his own tunes as a single, especially since this may be one of the best songs he has written. "When I'm in need" is just a beautiful little tune. Also, people who do not normally listen to Oasis will probably also like it. "FWIW", on the other hand, was just a boring copy of a below-average Oasis ballad (I like it anyway, but it's very generic).
