So I've been looking through this thread sometimes, and I've become somewhat emboldened to share some of my own songs. Two to be more specific, but I've got at least ten other tracks that will be finished in... well, maybe ten years from now. And of course I felt obligated to include an Oasis cover as well (although it's not a whole song). And before I stop writing I must say that the sound quality is not the best to say the least. Recorded on my phone, and then uploaded to soundcloud... but hopefully you'll make out most of the lyrics anyway, and that it takes some focus away from my sometimes mediocre guitar playing Any kind of feedback would be welcome! Hey Lucy (the more "normal" of the two): soundcloud.com/idrinkyourmilkshake-743388349/hey-lucyMarvin Was A Genius (kinda psychedelic tune about a cheating school boy): soundcloud.com/idrinkyourmilkshake-743388349/marvin-was-a-genius-full-versionLive Forever (cover): soundcloud.com/idrinkyourmilkshake-743388349/lll

Sounds good I'm not even sure if this is a good thing or not, but Marvin Was A Genius has Syd Barrett with Scitzophrenia vibes lol funhouse

hi funhouse,
I like Hey lucy and think its got some funny lyrics and a nice melody. However Marvin was a genius might be one of the strangest songs I've heard in my life. I honestly don't know what to say (and that's not necessarily a bad thing). id love to hear a recording of a whole band playing it.
I think your style is very unique and your use of strumming adds a lot to the songs, would like to hear more so keep it up!

And I laughed when I read your thoughts on "Marvin", because I've thought the same sometimes when I've listened to it And perhaps that feeling is elevated if you can't follow the lyrics and it all seems 100% random. Not saying that was the case for you though, but if it was I COMPLETELY understand your confusion As if the music itself didn't sound weird enough ^^ And thanks for the comment about my strumming, I've never even thought about it to be honest. But maybe I will next time I play Thanks for listening!

Just a reflection of why my songwriting tend to be more psychedelic (maybe to an extreme with Marvin Was A Genius): I think it has to do with my voice. It's kind of "soft" in lack of a better word, more suited for jazz and soul than for rockn'roll. And when you have that voice there's sort of two ways you can go, if you don't go with jazz/soul: Either you fully embrace it and sing ballads all day long, or you can go for a more psychedelic approach. And that's the approach that I've taken I guess

Sounds pretty good, got a nice flow to it. Repetitive guitar brings a lot more focus to the lyrics + vocals, so it's cool that there's a fair bit of variety in the lyrics that keeps my attention as it goes on.

Wow, this is actually really good! I love how surreal and random the lyrics are, reminds me of Dylan at his most playful. How's that for a compliment?

Thanks And yeah, I'll take that compliment any day haha. But believe it or not, the lyrics aren't as random as they may seem, there is an actual story with a meaning (kind of) hidden underneath that thick layer of surrealism
