imho, the band could actually make it through supersonic. it's an easy enough song and i think roughing it up and playing it '94 style would fit liam's new ethos of wanting a punkish sound. plus it's one of the few songs he consistently sang well on the '08 tour.

'Lyla's a good shout though, that was always great when played live and it's simple enough so the band would surely be able for it. I stand corrected, how could I forget about '06... but still think he'd do a good job with it now.

They won’t ever play Hello again due to Gary Glitter. They’ve never played it since the whole glitter saga started I’m glad he does RnR star and Slide away. Can’t replace those Didn't they play it in 2002? Yes, they did.

Can’t replace those Didn't they play it in 2002? Yep, for the whole tour! The Glitter stuff came out in 1997 (after Oasis had dropped it from their set incidentally). Never thought it sounded that good on the 2002 tour - except maybe that Lyon gig. It's a weird one for what Oasis songs he's going to put in - if he puts in Oasis songs they have to be relatively big hitters otherwise what's the point. I'm surprised he's doing Be Here Now - not sure it's a crowd pleaser at festivals? Rockin' Chair would be great but I think it's too much for his voice. We've had seven (?) of that Chinese setlist played already. Think we're missing Bring it On Down, Rockin' Chair, Listen Up, I Hope, I Think, I Know and My Big Mouth. He's already said he's not doing I Hope I Think I Know because of his voice, which is fair enough, I think even 97 Liam would have had a job with that one. Listen Up, again, some ridiculously high notes in that ("One fine day, gonna leave it all behind"), Rockin' Chair ("Rockin' in your Rockin' chair") would be a struggle too! If he plays My Big Mouth in a lower key I guess that'd work, but do we want that!? Bring it On Down will be fair enough. For his own shows I'd actually like to see him play Boy with the Blues. Think it'd suit his current sound, and he wrote it.

Slide Away is the song he's nailing the best so far. He crushed it at Glastonbury

MARRIED. WITH. CHILDREN. and fucking Rockin Chair finally. and fade in-out?... cmon lets be realistic, all of those are out of his range. His voice is getting better but theres no need to rush him. Stand by me and columbia are better choices if he wants to stay in the first three albums.

Replace: Rock N Roll Star for Supersonic or Bring It On Down Morning Glory for Lyla or Headshrinker Slide Away for The Hindu Times or The Boy With The Blues D'Yer Know What I Mean? for I Hope, I Think, I Know or Gas Panic! Liam is sounding the worst at the beginning of gigs for me. Rock N Roll Star he shouts the lyrics, Morning Glory he just doesn't sound as good with it and Slide Away just doesn't work either. The band themselves sound bloody awful playing all 3. The above needs to be changed dont you dare to touch D you know what I mean.

No need to replace anything, especially slide away... But it would be great in every gig to add a different oasis song... I m still waitin for rockin chair...n I m sure that he keeps it for a special gig. N in his UK tour a BE tune for the fans.FOTF could bring the roof down, mark my words... I m definitely sure that the surprises are not over...

The whole place was right into the "All My People Right Here Now" part, everyone singing along at the top of their voice, went down a treat as did Be Here Now when Bonehead made his appearance too. Not directed at anyone in particular but I think some people need to take into account that Festival webcast/TV broadcasts are not the definitive source of how a crowd is responding to the songs. Take Glastonbury for example, the mix wasn't great, you couldn't hear any of the backing vocals at all and the crowd was absolute shite. Hopefully when Liam announces his own tour some of the gigs are broadcast and the songs and the crowd reactions come across with the same atmosphere as the venues.

The barrowlands was a tremendous night. I was with a group of about ten lads many of who were there in 2001 and every single one thought it was the best gig they had seen liam perform since then, some even thought it was better.
That's why I don't have much time for all this ripping apart the bands performance. When I saw them live they gave me a superb experience and that's what live music is all about as far as I'm concerned. Also the almost universal praise liam is getting for his festival performances doesn't speak to me of a band that are incompetent.
I think some people have spent so long ripping apart Liam's performances that now that he is improving instead of just giving him credit they have to qualify it with ...but the band is shit.
They may not be zeppelin but if forty thousand people can watch them and and have a great time then they're not doing that bad.

I've only seen the Glastonbury performance, but the band was great, what are some of you guys talking about?? Not only that, actually sounds a bit fresh, not like some of those later tours where Noel dropped almost any improv in songs or intros, and sometimes they sounded a bit bored. The mix def could've been better though, as stated above. Let's be honest, Liam sounded pretty good, but it wasn't great.

Opening with Morning Glory is what the song deserves.
Second song - Lyla. I want Liam to include post 1998 Oasis! There were some awesome moments!
It's true that he's shouting Rock and Roll Star - the song for me is best left with his original voice in 94. The band can't play it right anyway!
Definitely agree there should be one new curveball song for every different region or even every gig. That would be awesome for the fans!
How long since we've heard The Hindu Times or All Around The World? These were some huge songs I'm dying to hear live!
Add to the end of the current setlist Supersonic and Champagne Supernova. There you have a successful Oasis / As you Were merged setlist including some iconic singalongs.
P.S. Am I really the only one who really likes You Better Run, You Better Hide? I feel surprised that this is a rare opinion...
Ps2 I think Chinatown is a step in a very cool direction, I can't stop listening to it, I'm starting to think maybe his SECOND album will be even bigger now that he's found his feet with some good musical direction. I cannot wait to hear For What It's Worth

I'd love to hear All Around the World and Stand by Me!
I don't think he will not sing RiRS, it's basically his anthem. It will definitely be interesting to see what he plays at the private gig, hoping we get video or audio from it!
Off topic- I've searched in "Sound and Vision" but no luck in finding an audio recording of this version.. anyone have it?

I don´t think he can sing All Around The World ever again and the band would absolutely murder the song. But i don´t imagine him hitting the "PLEASE DON´T CRY, NEVER SAY DIE" part again and it´s a song that requires more than just his normal band and i don´t know if he´s willing to put in the money for everything the song had in the background when Oasis performed it. And there´s also the fact that the song is +10 minutes and that can take quite a toll on his voice and for the sake of one song i don´t think that´s really worth it. I would rather have him sing Gas Panic, Stand by Me, The Hindu Times or even Go Let It Out and regarding Be Here Now still, along with Stand By Me, I would put Don´t Go Away before AATW for me.

I never had the chance to listen to it live, but I know I would freak out if I hear the plane engine (which our beige kid has now taken out from his remaster 👎) It might hadnt work in the late 90s because to many of us still gave a fuck about what Noel was saying... if he said BHN was dog shit, then the sheep fans would think it was dogshit

I agree. I really enjoy the song live on the BHN tour, but in this case I don't think it'd be that special and would take the spot of 2-3 songs.

Did Liam used to get slated (not on here) back then for his voice? I don't remember the media picking up on it but perhaps they did.

Go Let It Out would sound great with his current voice and it's not really too hard to sing. The same goes for Columbia. I would also love to hear Gas Panic but considering probably only half of his audience will have heard it it's very unlikely. This is roughly my perfect setlist:
1. Rock n Roll Star 2. Morning Glory 3. Go Let It Out 4. Wall of Glass 5. D'you Know What I Mean? 6. Bold 7. Be Here Now 8. Greedy Soul 9. Gas Panic 10. Slide Away 11. Paper Crown 12. Universal Gleam 13. Columbia 14. I Get By 15. Live Forever
