Back in 2011 NG was asked about the setlist of his upcoming gig; he answered that since he couldn't make people pay 40 pounds for a 45 minute gig (like BE did), the first tour would have been 50% High Flying Bird and 50% oasis song, and as would have decrease oasis song in his setlist as new records come out. Infact the first part of the chasing yesterday tour, let's say from march to july 2015, had 33 % from oasis, 33% from High flying birds and 33% from chasing yesterday......on the other side NG is not famous to make different setlist...

Even the Rolling Stones announced that in their new tour they would play a few rarities at each gig to cater for their dedicated fans: They did this when I saw them as well. They had some sort of wheel displayed on the stage background which would select a song. Metallica actually did this too.

Noel tried to play rarities on his first tour, but got scared off because he wasn't getting the crowd reaction he wanted. He was essentially playing songs to probably what amounted to less than 5% of his audience with not as much payoff.
I think it's weird to compare him to acts like Pearl Jam, the Rolling Stones, and Metallica. They have a different aura around them. That's what Noel left behind when he left Oasis, honestly. Oasis always knew that they'd fill stadiums and arenas. I don't think Noel has the same luxury, even on album #3. He's always going to play Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger etc because he knows that 99% of the people who come to see him are coming to hear the hits.
I think he's always going to be more likely to play random songs at private gigs, as the above, mainly because he knows that those are diehards who are coming to see him.
I wish he included more songs, but honestly, I'm passed the Noel setlist discussion. It's another topic where everything has been said and it doesn't pay to continually repeat viewpoints.

At this point who cares? He's closer to album #3. We don't need another Noel acoustic show broadcast of songs we've heard 100 times now for the most part.

I'm glad he finally figured out While The Song Remains The Same. Maybe the summer dates aren't going to be much different, but I bet he has something special planned for the album #3 tour that we can all get really excited/frustrated about again (Champagne Supernova).

Thing with Noel is, I'm not so interested in his setlist these days either. Is it fair to say that when you've seen him once, you've seen it all?
I went to his Glasgow gig in February 2012. Absolutely loved it, best atmosphere ever and it was like one big karaoke session. I've got such great memories of that gig that I don't want to spoil it by potentially going to another one that isn't as good.

I'm hoping if Gem and Chris are touring with him then he might feel a bit more confident or more easily convinced to play something slightly different. He doesn't have to change it that much, but if he's happy to play Digsy's Dinner then I think the crowd would be up for the likes of Round Are Way, Up In The Sky, She's Electric, Step Out, Stay Young etc. Rare enough yet still well known.

I saw them on both tours and on neither occasion did it cost £40 or last less than an hour.

I understand Noel doesn't want to pack his setlists full of "rarities" but he's been doing long tours. Even just playing one rarity every night and changing that choice of song every night would be nice. Surely the band must get sick of playing exactly the same setlist night after night. If he taped every gig on the tour and then compiled the best performance of every song played on the tour he'd have a nice souvenir album for fans to buy at the end.

Here's the thing though - he doesn't even need to play rarities to switch the setlist up a bit - he's got a metric shit tonne of hit singles he's never played live solo! Live Forever, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Shakermaker, Some Might Say, Morning Glory, Stand By Me, D'You Know What I Mean, All Around The World, Roll With It, Go Let It Out, The Hindu Times...

He's said that he'll never play stuff like Cigarettes and Alcohol and Some Might Say. Mainly, because anyone who is a Liam fan would have a field day. Also, he said that he wouldnt do Live Forever because he thinks the song is too associated with him and Liam being together, and it would be weird. So, I think that there's a section of the discography that we can safely eliminate.

Ryan Adams and The Cardinals used to do a song bingo each night, and Wilco have a request page on their website. In fact Jeff Tweedy did 3 shows in Chicago where the fans made the setlist. He got the list at 4 in the afternoon and had to learn them for a gig 4 hours later...just saying

This way he wouldn't even need to bother rehearsing certain songs with the band and we could get at least one new song every once in a while?

Choosing to play The Good Rebel or Mucky Fingers over Live Forever... that shit cray.
