Hi, my ancient Mac Mini died on me a while back and I'm thinking of getting a Macbook Pro.
I know the new model is due to be launched next week. I'm just wondering - do Apple usually drop the price of the current model once the new one is released?

The price should drop some for sure.
I have one I bought back in Jan. 2010, and I still use it almost daily. Never really had any issue with it.
(I know, I know... I should upgrade at this point.)

I'm just wondering - do Apple usually drop the price of the current model once the new one is released? It will dropped a little. Sometimes ebay is best for used. My work one is a few months old. 13" 3.1 GHz, i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 PCIe flash memory with those specs, with apple care and extra charger you're close to 2400 Depends you're looking for? Desktop iMac 21.5 with i5 with 16 GB RAM is a good deal 1700. Which is at my desk at work as well. Make sure you get the highest amount of RAM, if you get an iMac. You don't want to try re-glue the screen back down. Light weight mobile maybe Macbook Air? for pricing. 1400? overall, iMac is a quiet machine and handles with vmware well with MacOs running as well. I like my pro, but if I had to pay for something personally new it be the Air or the iMac. I can not spend 2400 on a computer.

In the end I actually went ahead and ordered one before today's new model launch.
I'm glad I did now because you can't seem to order a previous generation MacBook from the Apple Store (and I wanted to get it from there so I could pay by instalments).
Also, they've put the prices up by at least £400 for the base model to make up for the post-Brexit drop in the value of the pound.
So all in all I'm feeling pretty smug right now!

It's a good machine. Fans kick up time to time. Advice to buy a hard cover case. Even if it's just a plastic clear one. Protects the laptop for a very little money.Scratches are a huge thing. I have that model for my job. I plan to get the macbook air for personal use, because my iMac can do the heavy lifting if needed.
