Watched this for the first time in a year or so, Jesus Christ he was rolling back the years here with this vocal. If I just had the audio and someone told me it was from a late 90's gig I wouldn't question it.
Liam has got a lot to prove with his upcoming solo album/tour, lets hope he can consistently put on performances like this, if he can then we are in for a treat!

I always found this performance pretty average personally.
I feel like anytime Liam has a good vocal performance we all freak out because he has set the bar so low over the past decade.
Maybe it's just me though.

That's miles away from the 90s. It's a good performance, but not great. Liam from the 90s would have slaughtered all over this performance. Here he lacks the power in the voice that he once had. His voice is now very thin, even when he is nailing his notes.

Such an overrated performance. It's mediocre at best, and in no way is it comparable to any of Liam's nineties vocals.

I think theres echos of 2000/2001 Liam coming through here in places but hes still thin and nasely overall, certainly a step up imo from anything since about 05 imo the Q magazine interviewer said there was a clarity to Liams voice that we havnt heard for ages so Im hoping that Liam can deliver and surprise on his solo record.

His best voice was in the 90's but my favourite is 2000-2001. If he has that voice on his tour it will be fine. He has to make sure that he stays away from his 05-06 voice.
I like the performance at TGIF. It sounds good.

Technically, I think it seems he's singer better than ever. But that's not to say his voice doesn't already have its damage.

I think we are missing the real problem. It seams he can still make it in the studio, and still can give decent two or three songs performances. No doubt about it, he is not as fucked up as robert plant. But can he tour? can he sing a 15 songs set every week? because thats what liam really loves, and what he thinks this is about. We have to wait and see. I really hope he has done something in this two years to fix it and repair some of the damage. He cant be what he was, but that doesnt mean he has to sound as 2002-2007 specially as 2006, the only oasis gig I ever attended, where he really sucked

I hear early 2000 Liam in there and I like it ! I hope he's done some training on his voice atleast to maintain it at this level. Time will tell

Still think this is probably his best performance in the last ten years or so. No trouble hitting the notes and there's a clarity to it I've not heard since. A weird anomaly:

His voice is now very thin, even when he is nailing his notes. I completely agree. A good performance by Liam but nowhere near the 90s. His voice was so silky smooth back then. You can clearly guess post 2000 work.

I think a lot of Liams "bad vocals" is partly down to his attitude towards what hes doing, he sounded crap at the end of oasis because he couldnt be bothered anymore, he was cutting off words and sometimes not even singing, for example you cant even really judge his voice at the itunes festival in 2009 because hes not even trying hes just angrily shouting words.
same with beady eye, his voice tanked badly at those festival shows in 2013 just after the issues with that journalist came out, of course its not the main factor but when Liams feeling it you can hear in his voice that hes really trying so Im hoping that after taking an extended break, getting his life together and generally doing something he WANTS to do will mean hes going to put in the effort and get the best out of himself, Liam clearly still can have good gigs but he cant really get away with half assing it nowadays because his voice isnt in the shape it once was, when hes putting in the effort hes putting on a good performance.

I shouldn't of said late 90's, that was a bit of a stretch. I definitely think it sounds not far off a 00/01 vocal though.

My Generation's not the best song to judge his voice on really. Tends to sound the same on it regardless.

I'll never understand what was going on with his voice at this gig.

I'll never understand what was going on with his voice at this gig. Definitely his worst gig. It's not like River Plate (that gig sounds awful, it sounds like Noel stole Liam's microphone and the crowd is way too loud) were the mix is really bad.

Noel did a great performance, but was a prick, and Liam was kind of shitty but was really kind with the crowd

A weird anomaly: The echo in the room probably helps it sound better. It's pretty small parr hall and sound really does bounce of the walls. His performance at Heaton Park before roses was solid though.
