I believe, at this point of his career and age, it would be a good idea for Liam to succumb to the fact that his lower vocal chords are less used. It would be probably much more comfortable for him and his characteristic style would still be conserved and he could be recognised as a good singer again. I brought up Bowies change of voice before. An other artist is Mr. Pop, for sure. He could never reach the high notes of songs like Seek and Destroy after he turned 23 years old. The list of barritones in none classical music includes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_baritones_in_non-classical_music I really enjoy his old altered voice on a track like this. Are these his lowest recorded notes? Please respect the fact that I don't want this to become a discussion about why his voice changed.

One of my favourite vocals from him in recent years. Really hope he focuses on more songs with this style of singing if/when he gets back to music.

His natural range dropped over the years. The reason he started to struggle was because what was once his chest voice and natural range became the very top end of what he could do and he had to sing through his nose and sacrifice some power and depth to stay in tune...for whatever reason (Fags, booze, technique, age, coke...going down on girls ) could be anything. But I think he's still a great singer, he's just always singing out of his natural range to try to emulate what he was famous for. I hope if he does release something, he just sings naturally, however different it sounds. I can imagine him releasing a single and us being confused because he sounds so different, but for his career going forward that could be a good thing. Oh and get a really, really good producer again please. Wouldn't be disappointed at all with Dave Sitek again.

How do you classify Liam's early voice? Was it a bariton aswell? I think that what he sang back then was always within reach for a baritone voice though still not easy to do

How do you classify Liam's early voice? Was it a bariton aswell? I think that what he sang back then was always within reach for a baritone voice though still not easy to do On the pre DM demo's Liam definitely has a tenor range. Even on DM you can hear that he has to put quite a bit if strain on his voice to hit the highest notes like on Slide Away and Listen Up. On Morning Glory his voice had deteriorated slightly but he was kind of between a baritone and a tenor. In some might say he hits the highest note Noel hits on Don't look back in anger. By BHN he was still a temor but was really having to reach to hit high notes. By 2000 he was having a lot of trouble with his upper range and from then on was really straining to hit notes he could sing with relative ease in the 90's which is why the band dropped Some Might Say from their set.
