You'd think a comedian would exaggerate for comedic purposes, but every single thing he said sounds exactly like something Liam would say and do.

Translation- NME has rung Debbie Gwyther up and left a message on her voice mail asking "Did your other half threaten to take out Sacha Baron Cohen's eye in 2012?" Maybe they should have just text her It does sound like a true Liam story to be fair, given his history of attacking paparazzi, Mani from The Stone Roses, a female fan at an OCS gig (allegedly ) and the Australia incident with another fan.

I love how, without even being there, Liam still bombs on American telly.

Maybe they should have just text her It does sound like a true Liam story to be fair, given his history of attacking paparazzi, Mani from The Stone Roses, a female fan at an OCS gig (allegedly ) and the Australia incident with another fan. Liam attacked Mani? Yes backstage IIRC on the Be Here Now tour after a bad gig that included a run in with Noel. Paolo Hewitt reported it as Mani walked in to the backstage area and said "Hi", Liam snarled at him, to which Mani asked what was wrong before Liam went for him, the two men grappling and trading blows before being pulled apart by Oasis security guards. Almost immediately after Liam asked to see Mani privately in a back room and apologised, and was said to be distraught. By all accounts Mani let it go without any hassle, but it does highlight an aggressive temperament to Liam, as well as perhaps the extreme pressure of being in the spotlight constantly for three to four years, leading him to lash out at even his friends and family. EDIT the gig was at The Point on 5th Dec 1997 when Liam was absent after being diagnosed with nodules on his throat after a poor performance the first night. He turned up afterwards backstage on the third night when Noel had done the show as singer for the second night in a row, clashed with his brother verbally and then had an altercation with Mani- (sources Forever the People (Hewitt) and Where Did Ot All Go Wrong (Amies) )

It sounds awful coming out of SBC's kind of posh mouth. It's like how when posh people swear it sounds 10x as harsh. Liam was winding him up and was probably on coke by the sound of thise so must have looked a right dick. Saying something outrageous or offensive in a deadpan faux serious way is a very working class British thing. Liam was trying to make him panic and lose his cool, not literally threatening to stab him like it sounds I love how he's always nice to fans but a wanker to most celebrities. Reminds me of the attitude of the South Park guys. I love SBC's films but being rich and famous he's probably a dick in real life like most of the rest of them, I love how Liam just isn't phased and likes messing with who probably haven't been fucked with in any way in a long time xD

I'm not sure Conan quite got the comedy of the situation. Still he wrote the Monorail episode of the Simpsons so is alright in my book. Did Oasis never play the Conan O'Brien show?

So Sacha Baron Cohen claimed Liam threatened to stab him in the eye. Liam has helpfully come forward to sort out the confusion, and has clarified that he in fact threatened to stab Cohen in both eyes. So that's good to sort out. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, thought it might be good to have everything in one place. Here's a link with a video: www.nme.com/news/liam-gallagher/92014Also, Cohen's Liam impression starts out really well but ends up sort of Yorkshire...

Liam was never around that day so i guess Conan never got to meet him, but O'brien is playing the surprise on his show more than anything else...

I still don't get this assumption that all celebrities are dicks Celebrity comes from the latin Celebritatem which literally translates as "Condition of being famous", meaning you need only to be recognised to be acknowleged as such. The problem with this sort of fame is that those with said celebrity status often mistake being recognisable for being intelligent or knowledgeable on environmental, political or social issues. There are obvious candidates for those roles, as well as the type of celebrity I have (sadly) encountered at our leisure venues who invariably come from "reality" TV backgrounds and if not recognised and treated as Liz Taylor immediately throw epic hissy fits, usually with the opening quote "Do you know who I am?" or words to that effect. I take the point that not having met every single celebrity one cannot say they are all the same, but unfortunately the behaviour of some high (and some not so high) profile celebrities has tarred them all for quite a few people I know, wrong as that may seem.
