I think this might be my favourite piece of music ever made.
Seriously.

Black Grape's first record is the peak of Dr Ryder's career.
Tramazi party is such a absolute banger!

I love when you get into an artist (Sometimes one you’ve known quietly for years) and start making your way through their discography. It’s like making a new friend, or really getting to know someone.
This year I’ve really been getting to know Iggy Pop. Beyond the three first iconic stooges albums, I’ve found much to enjoy.

The new Green Day album is the best thing they've done since American Idiot by far. Really enjoying it.

But I can get why it's kind of either a love it or hate it thing.

I’ve been doing similar with Paul Weller’s solo stuff, 98-2010. Was really slow to get into Bowie also and there’s something special knowing you have several albums still to properly get your teeth into

Ugh. The Tories are gonna have a field day with this Slowthai thing. Piers Morgan's gonna fucking love it. Regardless he should be (and is being) rightfully condemned. 'Hero of the Year' - Ouch!
It's a shame as I was watching some Slowthai interviews the other day and thought he came across as a lot more switched on and likable than first meets the eye. Nevermind I guess!
Edit: Having read up on the situation more and seeing Katherine Ryan's tweets & Slowthai's apology it seems the situation is a little bit different than it looks at face value but his behaviour was still undeniably wrong, something he has admitted too. Hopefully he'll learn his lesson and think twice in the future. Thought Katherine dealt with the situation in a very smart, grown up manner.

He had a quite tough upbringing, but always seemed quite thoughtful in interviews, his music also usually stays far from the machism and not so subtle mysoginy rap is famous for, but he really acted as a vagina last night, I know he was drunk (not an excuse really) and maybe intended what he was doing as a joke, but it was still shameful In 3 mins he went against everything his own music stands for

New Pearl Jam single, a bit of Talking Heads influence on it, funny how it seems older band are going back to those 80's sounds, cool intro btw.

HEAVY Lana Del Rey vibes here. Very influenced by her Honeymoon era. I like it.

HEAVY Lana Del Rey vibes here. Very influenced by her Honeymoon era. I like it. I was hoping they wouldn’t do another heartfelt ballad after Adele and then Sam Smith did the same, but they have. Thankfully, they’ve at least done it well—about to the level of ‘Skyfall’, I’d say, and much better than the wimpish, vaguely embarrassing ‘Writing’s on the Wall’. (“How do I live? How do I breathe? When you’re not here I’m suffocating.” Yuck!) Some nice, unusually gentle orchestration from Hans Zimmer—it’s nice to have the guy who’s doing the score help out with the theme tune again, matt. The guitars evoke Monty Norman’s classic theme and John Barry’s legendary scores, as every Bond theme should, so that’s good. And then you have Billie herself, being a little star with those beautiful vocals and a set of lyrics that are pitched just right. Well done to all. I think they’ve done a good job.

And from what I've read, that IS Johnny Marr on guitar there (my theory was right!)! Great to see the film composers collaborating again (first time since Casino Royale). It's a good song and I really like it and for me, by far the best since Chris Cornell's effort (which I think was outstanding, the film Casino Royale and theme tune was exactly what was needed for the series), it's just a shame that the two previous downers kind of take the surprise element away from it, but that ain't the fault of anyone involved here. Over time, that won't impact our thoughts on it. But at last, the first good Bond song in ages (even the Radiohead one they proposed was drivel). I'd rank it somewhere around The Living Daylights and The World Is Not Enough theme tunes. Hope the film is great. I'm always intrigued to see what direction Bond is taken with the respective director. There's so much they can do with it, it must be a dream. Just a shame that the Danny Boyle collaboration never took off, I was dying to see that one.

I've finally got the point of Exile and man it's a great album. It doesn't really have any standout tracks, it sounds messy and hedonistic, but same as with BHN, that's the whole point of the album. And in this case the production actually does them favours, I'd say they've managed to capture the kind of dirty sound they've tried to capture for years and it's not until Exile they really pull it off properly.
It's a pretty long album with 18 songs but the quality doesn't drop at all. They're also experimenting with a lot of different genres on the album which can be both good and bad, but in my opinion it adds something to it. They seemed to be full of ideas during the Exile era; so many great guitar riffs, melodies, lyrics and just general energy. No wonder it's a double album.

What sells Exile for me is it's atmosphere, that dark hazy druggy atmosphere like they are playing on an obscure pub somewhere - something Oasis captured well on Columbia - it's muddy but also very clean sounding with rich instrumentation and they fill every spot with subtle details, everything glue so well.

I agree with all the love for Exile. To me the excitement starts with Rocks Off and doesn’t let up. You can hardly make out what mick jagger is singing half the time, it’s such a mess, sounds like a parade going down the street for however long the album runs.
I saw a documentary on the making of this album, apparently it was really Keith’s baby. He took quite the lead on this album.

RIP Andrew Weatherall e. I didn't expect this at all and it's not like I'm some huge fan but this actually hit me quite hard. I think Weatherall has influenced me quite a bit actually, he was one of those people that raised my interest in DJing and producing. Especially the DJ thing is something I didn't quite appreciate until I started reading about guys like Weatherall and I realised it's something I actually really want to do sometime.

I don't know how I randomly got on a U2 forum in the first place (not a fan tbh) but there's actually a user called 'andybellsbiggestfan'. It's either sarcasm par excellence or I missed out on something - I don't know how popular Andy Bell is among Ride fans today, it just struck me because, on the forum, he's not necessarily the most liked/valued member of Oasis to say it in a kind way.

In shoegaze communities Andy is very highly regarded for sure. He's got loads of fans.

Could be referring to Andy Bell from the band Erasure!

Holy hell I LOVE this!
The Hives return to what they do best - what a blistering ruckus!
I really hope they are making a new album. I like this much more than the previous song they released in the summer “I’m Alive”, which was very alice cooper. Not bad but I missed the high speed thrashing they usually/used to mete out.
